Windrose’s Tainted Ruins of an Ancient Temple blends haunting atmosphere with tangible reward: behind crumbling columns and overgrown courtyards lies a cluster of hidden chests. Whether you’re hunting blackbeard maps, following the traveler’s journal clue or simply digging for loot, this temple’s layout and ambushes demand preparation – bring lots of ammo, good weapons that deal significant damage and enough healing to survive loads of infected that lurk among the ruins. This guide walks you through what to expect when you arrive and the exact steps to unearth every treasure without wasting time.
Tainted Ruins Location
You’re going to come across the Tainted Ruins of an Ancient Temple during your main questline Forgotten Relics, which takes place in Cursed Swamps biome. You’d have to defeat Foothills boss – Israel Hands, to reach the cursed swamps.

Tainted Ruins Treasures
First, you’d have to clear the enemies that lurk in the ruins, because some of them hold keys that you need to open these treasure chests. You can identify who holds the key by the key symbol near their name but it’s recommended if you clear the area so that you don’t have to deal with constant attacks.
I’m gonna start the treasure hunt from the top of the ruins at the center. You can get to the top at the center through stairs on the north and south side of the ruins. Look around at the top and you’ll find your first treasure chest along with some ancient containers which will drop Tumbaga Ingots. Also if you look around in the direction of the stairs, you’ll notice other ruined buildings on each side as shown in the above second image.
Visit these buildings and you’ll get to collect the second and third ancient chests. Now that we’ve covered the north and south, let’s take a look at the remaining directions.
If you head towards the east of the ruins, you’ll notice another ruined building. You need to get on top of the building through the stairs which are located on the other side of that building.
Once you’re on top of the ruins, look around and you’ll find the fourth ancient chest along with some other ancient containers. Time to head towards the west of the main ruins.
