Grand Escunite Location in Monster Hunter Wilds
You can find the Grand Escunite in the underground lake in area 8 of the Scarlet Forest. There are two possible fishing spots where it might show up. One is to the left of the pop-up camp, on a small outcrop above the water. The other is deeper in the cave, just drop down to the lower platform, wade into the water, and dive when the option appears. Once you resurface on the other side, you’ll see another pool straight ahead. Since the Grand Escunite isn’t actually a fish, it’s got tentacles, it’s pretty easy to spot. Just look for the one with the big shell slowly gliding through the water.
How to Catch the Grand Escunite in Monster Hunter Wilds
To catch the Grand Escunite, hold the left bumper and select your rod from the Essential Items hotwheel. Make sure to swap to the Tentacle Jig lure, the one Kanya gave you. Important: don’t use the capture net! It won’t count for the quest, and you’ll have to find another Grand Escunite all over again.
Once you spot the bright blue Grand Escunite in the water, start fishing. If it’s not biting, try Luring by bobbing the lure up and down, that usually grabs its attention. The Tentacle Jig bait works best for this catch, and you’ll have gotten it from Kanya during one of the Fishing Side Missions.
Successfully reeling in the Grand Escunite completes the “Razzle Dazzle” Side Mission. As a reward, you’ll get five Jeweled Mullet Roes, five Sushifish Scales, three Gunpowderfish Scales, two Whetfish Fins, 300 Guild Points, and a boost to your Hunter Rank experience.

Once unlocked, you can find the “Razzle Dazzle” quest in the lower left section of the Scarlet Forest, in Area 1 near the Base Camp.
