Essence Arborum is a rare smelting product you’ll need to unlock Windrose’s Enchanting system and craft top tier gear. You’ll obtain it by processing Plague Wood at a Large Smelting Furnace – which means heading into the Cursed Swamps, harvesting infected trees and preparing the furnace and materials beforehand. This guide walks you through the fastest ways to find Plague Wood, efficiently smelt Essence Arborum and start crafting Ingot Arborum.
Cursed Swamps Biome
To be able to unlock the Essence Arborum, you need to progress the main questline to the Cursed Swamps biome.

Obtaining Plague Wood
Look for infected areas in Cursed Swamps, in these areas even the trees are infected as shown in the above image. Chop down these Tainted Trees and you’ll obtain the Plague Wood.
Smelting Essence Arborum
Then you’re going to need a smelting furnace, most likely the Large Smelting Furnace to be able to smelt the plague wood into Essence Arborum. Open the smelting furnace menu and you’ll see an option “ Essence Arborum “ on the furnace’s menu, you can now craft Essence Arborum and make Ingot Arborum.
