Tired of watching your sword tickle enemies while their blades laugh back? Upgrading weapons with smithing flux and arborum ingots turns ordinary gear into reliable damage dealers. This guide walks you through which upgrade materials matter most, where to farm them and simple upgrade paths for early, mid and late game builds – so you can hit harder, stay alive longer and spend less time grinding more time duking it out on the high seas.
Weaponsmith Workshop

To get started with the weapon upgrades, you first need to set up a Weaponsmith Workshop, and make sure that it’s built under a roof as it’s a requirement to use the weaponsmith workshop.

You can upgrade your weapons through the Weaponsmith Workshop under the upgrade tab, weapons that you have equipped currently are shown in this tab. You’re going to need smithing flux, whether to upgrade or create new weapons. Some weapons found in specific biomes require resources from the respective biomes, like the Plague Halberd – you’re going to find this weapon in Cursed Swamps biome and upgrading the weapon requires Ingot Arborum.
Obtaining Smithing Flux

You can purchase the Smithing Flux from the provisioner of Smugglers of Port Royale at Tortuga or at the smugglers base.
Obtaining Ingot Arborum

If you scout through the Cursed Swamps, you’ll come across a specific tree called Tainted Tree in the swamps, it looks like it got chicken pox. I’ve shared an image above for your reference. Chop these trees and you’ll obtain the plague wood.

Convert the plague wood to Essence Arborum through the smelting furnace. Then build an Enchanting Table and interact with it. After you get the essence arborum, you’ll get an option to make Ingot Arborum in the enchanting table, you’re going to need Metal Mire Ingot and Tainted Bile which can be obtained by harvesting plague crocodile in the cursed swamps.
Note : You can check out my guide on How to make Mire Metal Ingot.
