In Windrose, the Quartermaster Backpack is the moment your scavenging turns from frustrating to efficient – an essential mid game upgrade that expands your pockets from cramped to comfortably roomy. Crafted from the Bosun Backpack plus crocodile hide pieces, it unlocks longer farming runs, fewer trips back to base and smoother progression through tougher zones; this guide covers where to get the materials fast, how to prepare for swamp hunts and the quickest crafting routes so you can upgrade with minimal downtime.
Crafting Bosun Backpack
Before you get ready to craft the Quartermaster Backpack, you’re going to need a pre-requisite – which is the Bosun Backpack. You’ll be able to craft Bosun Backpack when you progress your main questline to the Foothills.

To craft the Bosun Backpack, you’re going to need 3 resources – sailor backpack, tanned leather and iron ingots.

Crafting Tanned Leather


You can craft tanned leather through the Tanning Rack. You’re going to need 2 resources to craft the Tanned Leather – rough hide ( you get these by killing boars, wolves ) and tannin.
Crafting Tannin


Crafting Tannin requires you to set up the Alchemy Table and requires the Hardwood Tree Bark that you get by chopping down the Divi-Divi trees located in the Foothills.
Once you have the required resources, you can get back to your workbench to craft the Bosun Backpack.
Crafting Quartermaster Backpack

To craft the Quartermaster Backpack, you’re going to need a pre-requisite, Bosun Backpack along with another resource – crocodile hide piece.
Obtaining Crocodile Hide Piece


You can get Crocodile Hide Piece by harvesting crocodiles, and you can find them in the Cursed Swamps biome. Once you’ve the required resources, you can craft the Quartermaster Backpack.
