Where to Get Frankfurt Steel KCD2

Frankfurt Steel is a valuable crafting material in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, but getting your hands on it isn’t always straightforward. You can either find it as loot in certain locations or purchase it later in the game once you unlock access to Trosky Castle. But chest loot is randomised, and Frankfurt Steel won’t necessarily always drop there, so you’ll want to be sure and check a certain location to find it. If you want a more reliable avenue for getting it, you’ll need to advance through some main quests to unlock the blacksmith at Trosky Castle. This guide will cover both methods, so you can gather enough Frankfurt Steel for your needs.

Where to Get Frankfurt Steel

There are several places where you might find Frankfurt Steel as loot, but since the game randomizes chest contents, what you find may vary depending on your save file. Still, a few locations have been known to contain it, making them worth checking out.

In Semine, you can find a chest in the horse trader’s barn. It’s located upstairs and has a medium lock, so you’ll either need decent lockpicking skills or the key to open it. Fortunately, the key is easy to find – it hangs on one of the wooden pillars downstairs near the doors leading to the horse pasture.

Wait until midnight to avoid detection, grab the key, and unlock the chest. Inside, you’ll find three pieces of Frankfurt Steel, along with other crafting materials, including a weapon schematic.

Another chest is in Apollonia, east of Trosky Castle. Follow the path to a cave at the end of the trail, then take the right path inside. Keep going until you reach two ladders – climb both and follow the tunnel to the left. You’ll emerge in a large cavern with a tree growing in the center.

The locked chest is nearby, and its key is hidden under a skull next to the tree. Unlock it to get two pieces of Frankfurt Steel, around 200 Groschen, and some miscellaneous items. While you’re there, be sure to grab the jugs of Ancient Moonshine – they restore a lot of stats and fetch a high price when sold.

How to buy Frankfurt Steel

You will be able to buy Frankfurt Steel from the blacksmith at Trosky Castle once you gain access to the area, but that won’t happen right away since the castle is locked behind quest progression. To get in, you first need to complete the Wedding Crashers quest by helping either the miller in Lower Semine or the blacksmith in Tachov – completing just one of these sub-quests is enough.

After that, attending the wedding in Semine will automatically start the For Whom The Bell Tolls quest, which takes place in Trosky Castle. However, you will also need to finish that quest before you’re free to explore and shop.
