Hayland Manor is one of the best places you can own in Schedule 1, but you can’t just buy it right away. First, you will need to deal with the Benzies family and complete their storyline. This guide will show you step-by-step how to unlock Hayland Manor, starting from getting a message from Thomas, going up against the cartel, and finally taking over the manor to use as your own base.
How to Unlock and Purchase Hyland Manor
To unlock the Hayland Manor, start with finishing the Benzies family storyline. It all starts when you get a message from Thomas. If the message doesn’t show up right away, just go to sleep, and it should pop up the next day.
Choosing Between Working with or Fighting the Cartel
Once you meet Thomas, you will be asked whether you want to work with the cartel or go against them. If you agree to their deal, you will be stuck selling your products for less money, and you won’t be allowed to operate in Northtown or Westville. So honestly, it’s not a great deal. It’s better to say no and go to war with the Benzies.
Taking Over Benzies Territory
If you choose to fight them, be ready, your dealers might get attacked, and they could lose cash or product. But this is your chance to take over their turf. Keep building your rep in their territory by selling there and stealing their customers. Eventually, you will unlock a mission called “Finishing the Job.”
Planning the Attack on Hayland Manor
In that mission, you will work with your crew to wipe out the cartel for good. Nelson will ask you to get Sam’s help to dig a tunnel under Hayland Manor, the cartel’s main hideout. You will need to pay $10,000 to move forward with this part.
Collecting Explosives and Handling the Thief
You will also need explosives. Head over to Billy at the chemical plant. He won’t take cash, but you can trade some of your product for RDX. Then go to Stan at the warehouse and ask him to make a bomb with the RDX. But before he helps, you will need to deal with a thief who’s been stealing his stuff. You will find the thief wandering the docks at night. Take him out, return to Stan, and you will get your bomb.
Blowing Up the Cartel Base
Next, go to sleep, and you should get a message from Sam that the tunnel is ready. Head to Hayland Manor, plant the bomb, and get out of there fast, you will only have 45 seconds before it explodes. Once the place blows up, the cartel’s done for.
Claiming the Manor
A few days after the explosion, the manor will be rebuilt, and it will become yours for free. You can use it as your base of operations. Just note that it’s a bit far from town. Still, it has two parking spots, which makes supply deliveries easier.
