If you’re trying to find all the Secret Shells in Sword of the Sea, this guide will help you out. Each area in the game has hidden shells, and some of them can be tricky to reach. We have listed every single shell and where to find it, step by step.
All Secret Shell Locations
There are a total of 50 secret shell locations in Sword of The Sea. The secret shells are spread across 7 areas: Veiled Sea, Lost Grotto, Forbidden Valley, Shadow Tundra, Frozen Drifts, Sacred River, and Boiling Cavern.
The developer has mentioned that some of these collectibles might be moved around in the final update. Don’t worry though if you happen to miss anything on your first run, you will be able to go back and grab it later using Chapter Select, which unlocks once you finish the story.
Secret Shells Locations In Veiled Sea
In the Veiled Sea, you will find 10 Secret Shells.
1. Secret Shell
Head to the half-pipe area, just below the vendor. Look on the left side of the half-pipe, there is a hole in the wall. Go through it, and you will find the shell inside.
2. Secret Shell
After you restore the water near the big pillar on the left in the large open area, look toward the waterfall. There is a cave to the right of it. Go inside to grab the shell.
3. Secret Shell
In the big open space, stick to the left side. You will find a slope with a bunch of lanterns. Turn them on to open a hidden entrance. Inside, light up more lanterns to lower the sand and reveal a path. Follow the tunnel to a water point. You will find a small cave here. Bounce on the jellyfish inside, then take the path to the left. You will find another water point and a wall ride. Ride it to reach a platform with the shell.
4. Secret Shell
Once you turn on the main water point that powers the left chain, climb up to the roof of the building near the vendor. Look at the statue on the left, you will see the shell on top of it. To reach it, wait for one of the Orcas swimming around. When it gets close to the statue, jump on it, then hop onto the statue to collect the shell.

Go outside the same building and face the direction where the chain leads. Look down over the edge to the left, and you will see two pillars. Pick up some speed and jump to the closer one. The shell is there. To get back, jump to the second pillar and use the nearby hole to teleport back.

Now go to the opposite side of the building. Cross the narrow waterfall and drop down to a ledge with a cave. Head inside, and you will find another shell.

After you press the button in the center of the area (which makes the sand drop near the second chain), follow the left wall up the cliff. You will find a wall ride path, cross it, and you will find the shell waiting on the other side.

Once you’ve turned on the water point for the right chain, go behind the building. After that, you need to climb up the waterfall with the help of the kelp, then move towards the right side following the cliff path. Keep going until you find some stone paths leading off the edge. Go to the one on the right, and look down to the left. You will spot a flag on a lower cliff. Next to it is a cave; head inside to grab the shell.
9. Secret Shell
Keep walking along the same cliff path. Eventually, you will see more walkways going down. Drop to the lowest one where there is a frog sitting on a rock. Now look down again, you will see a statue below. You need to jump down towards the statue, and you will find the shell lying nearby on a small ledge near the statue.
10. Secret Shell
Head back toward the central area. To reach there, you can either use the chains or use the kelp to climb up to the spot. Before you reach the large central spot, check the cliffs on the right. There is a small sandy area tucked in there with your final shell.
Secret Shells Locations In Lost Grotto
There are 11 Secret Shells that you will come across in the Lost Grotto.
1. Secret Shell
In the spot with the two big turtle heads, climb up onto the rooftops above where the stele is. Look for a sand waterfall with a window behind it, jump into that window to find the shell inside.
2. Secret Shell
After going through the door to move forward, you will reach a room where you see a mysterious figure jump across. Head to the far side, and drop into a hole in the ground. At the bottom, look inside the large pipe, you will find the shell there.
3. Secret Shell
Once you turn on the next water point, climb up to the rooftops again. Look for an open building with a stele inside. Behind that building, there is a walkway. Walk across it and you will spot the shell.
4. Secret Shell
When you activate the main water point (the one that opens the exit chain), head behind the big shark statue. You can climb up its back, and at the top, there is a shell waiting for you.
5. Secret Shell
In the area filled with tall buildings where you flipped some switches, head down to the lowest level. One of the buildings down there has an open room, and that is where you will find the shell.

Ride the first chain upward to reach the top of the central buildings. On one of the rooftops, look for a small tunnel. Inside it, you will find the shell.

From that same rooftop, follow the water path all the way to the single building at the very end. On the side of that building, there is a ledge; drop down to it, and you will find another shell.

Now take the second chain back to the earlier area. From the rooftop near where the chain ends, look to the left. You will see a cliff, climb it and follow the path. There is a shell waiting at the end.

From the chain pillar rooftops, walk back toward where the area started. One of the buildings along the way has an open spot with the shell inside.

In the first area, look for a large wallride section. Nearby, there is some kelp you can climb. Use it to reach a higher ledge above the wallride, and follow the path into a cave. The shell is tucked away inside.
11. Secret Shell
As you’re heading toward the end of the area by following the chain, don’t go straight into the building. Instead, jump along the ledges on the right side of the building. At the end of those ledges, you will find a small cave, and inside it is the last shell.
Secret Shells Location In Forbidden Valley
In the Forbidden Valley, you will find 1 Secret Shell.
1. Secret Shell
In the area with the three water crystals, after the first one, climb to the second level. Don’t go toward the next crystal just yet. Instead, go right and hop up the ledges. At the top, you will see some lanterns between green crystals. Light them up to make a jellyfish appear. Use it to reach the far pillar where the only shell in this level is waiting.
Secret Shells Locations In Shadow Tundra
In the Shadow Tundra, you will find 10 Secret Shells.
1. Secret Shell
At the fifth statue (second one after the stele), climb its back and arm. You will reach its sword, and the shell is right at the tip.
2. Secret Shell
In the area with the giant statue, once you activate the chain on its hand, ride it up to the sword. The shell is at the tip.
3. Secret Shell
When you reach the icy slide area, stay on the right side. Look between the first and second statues on the right. There is a small cave with a shell inside.
4. Secret Shell
After sliding through the tube in the hallway with pillars, check the right side between the third and fourth last pillars. The shell is tucked there.
5. Secret Shell
In the area where you collect boost wisps from glowing pillars, grab a few boosts (you can carry up to 5). Go to the top area and look back toward the entrance, near the shark statue. You will spot a jellyfish jump leading to faraway platforms. Boost and jump to reach a chest on the first platform, then again to reach two more. The shell is at the end of the far one.

Next to the previous jellyfish, use the other one on the left to reach a far doorway. Go inside and follow the bone path until you reach a water point. Look directly above, it is inside a skull.

In the large area where you ring two golden bells to open the exit, head to the platform with the left bell. Walk around behind the giant shark statue there. Jump around its left arm to find a ledge with the shell.

You need to follow the right wall through a round rock structure after you enter the area. Then go into the rocks on the left, there is a hidden shell inside.
9. Secret Shell
From the same spot, turn back and look for a snowy ramp to the left of the round structure. Boost and jump off the ramp to land on top of the structure, where another shell is waiting.
10. Secret Shell
Near the level exit, look to the right of where the vendor is sitting. There is a small icy hallway there with the last shell at the very back. Grabbing it earns you the Shadow Tundra Shell Collector trophy.
Secret Shells Location In Frozen Drifts
In the Frozen Drifts, you will find 1 Secret Shell.

Toward the end of the level, after raising the giant castle, go behind the hill with the water pillar. You will see some lanterns, light them up to reveal a side area. The shell is in that new section, near the base of a giant sword.
Secret Shells Locations In Sacred River
In the Sacred River, you will find 11 Secret Shells.
1. Secret Shell
Right after the stairway with the lanterns, turn around and jump up to a statue with a broken head. Once you reach the back of the room, you will find the shell there. It is kept on the right of the big statue.

As you go up the ramp to the next lanterns, look behind you. There is a break in the wall, jump into it to find a side room with the shell.
3. Secret Shell
After activating the water point in the big round room, ride a sperm whale to the top ledge. The shell is on a ledge above the entrance.
4. Secret Shell
Outside, after using the jellyfish to reach the pillar, ride the water rails across the boats. On the third boat, there is a small cave with a shell inside.
5. Secret Shell
In the area where you raise a giant ship from the water, go to the back near the wall. There is a boat with a rail hint, boost off it, grind the rail to a tower, and jump/grind again to reach a high spot with the shell.

From that same area, check the left side. There is a ground path that wraps back toward the entrance. Follow it, and you will find the shell at the end. You can also use this path to return to the previous area if needed.

After raising the big boat, jump into the back of it. There are two rooms inside. You will find it in a broken pot near the wall in the room without the stele.

Use the half-pipe at the back of the boat to launch high into the air. Then use the water rail to land on top of a nearby building where the shell is.
9. Secret Shell
Go to the left beneath the big floating island. You will see some lanterns near an opening. Use the lower boat to jump into that opening; there is a shell inside.
10. Secret Shell
After turning on the water point on the floating island, look from the tall central platform. There is a small floating island with the vendor on the right, and another smaller one on the left. Jump on a Blue Whale and grind the floating lanterns to reach the island. The shell is in the top room.
11. Secret Shell
A bridge appears near the end. As you cross it, don’t go all the way up. Instead, look off to the right, and you will see a boat on top of a pillar. There is a shell on it. Use a water grind to reach it.
Secret Shells Locations In Boiling Cavern
Boiling Cavern is the seventh chapter in Sword of the Sea. In the Boiling Cavern, you will find 6 Secret Shells.
1. Secret Shell
Look for the pillar on the left as you get to the area where boats are floating in lava. You can see the shell resting on a tiny ledge if you swiftly jump around to the rear of it.
2. Secret Shell
Still in the same room, climb up the rocks behind the stele. Follow the path clockwise around the room until you can jump across to a far ledge. The shell is waiting for you right at the top.
3. Secret Shell
You will notice a boat sitting sideways in the lava. Jump onto it and use it to reach the nearby ledges. Follow them to the right, and you will come across a small cave hiding the shell.
4. Secret Shell
At the start of this area, look to your left for a round platform. Just beyond it, there’s a narrow corridor carved into the rock. Move quickly through it to the back, and you will find the shell.
5. Secret Shell
Climb up the ledge near the statue. The shell is tucked away there, and grabbing it will award you the Boiling Cavern Shell Collector trophy/achievement.
6. Secret Shell
The very last shell isn’t hidden it’s a purchase. Purchase it for 5000 Astra by trading with the vendor at the last stage.
