The Deep North biome is one of the additions that will come along with Valheim 1.0. If you already have a world with hours of progress, you may be wondering whether it is worth starting over. A fresh world can give you the full 1.0 experience, but keeping your old save also has its benefits.
Should You Start A New World

You do not need to choose either your old world or the new one. In Valheim, you are allowed to continue playing with the same character in two worlds. You may leave your world as it is and create another world just for the purposes of the 1.0 update and Deep North.
This means that you have an opportunity to lower the grind in some way. You may take your already existing character to a new world and start there, rather than start everything again. You may choose how much of your progress you would like to take along.
Deep North Update and Changes Explained
The Deep North update will add an entirely new biome, but that’s not the only change coming to Valheim. The current biomes and other locations will get their little updates in terms of variation. The difference will not be big, but it will introduce some diversity to the locations.
It is important to know that the areas in Valheim are created and saved by the game as players travel through them. It means that if you have already visited the location before the update, then the changes will not happen for this particular area. As such, players who have already visited the Deep North will not get its updated version in the areas they have already explored in their current world. But existing biomes like Meadows, Black Forests, Plains, and other locations, might get some new variations.
Of course, there is nothing terrible about this situation. All the biomes which exist in the game will not undergo content changes on a grand scale. All you need to do is leave the Deep North biome unexplored so that you can try out its new content.
Starting Over in Valheim 1.0

There is, however, another major reason to start over, as the 1.0 version of the game will finish the entire story. This will give you a better idea of the game’s plot, with the updated story, cinematics, boss fights, progression changes, fixes and other additions.
Moreover, in case you have not played Valheim for some time, this can be a great opportunity to come back to it. By playing from the very start, you will be able to experience all the changes together instead of trying to join the existing save with levelled-up equipment and a completed world.
There were also suggestions made by the developers to start anew in order to have the maximum experience of the game 1.0 version, as there will be many changes in terms of progression and game mechanics. Also, if you like collecting achievements, playing the game from scratch will provide you with an opportunity to get all of them
Nevertheless, there are many good reasons to stick to your old world as well. If you have put in many hours of work and created something unique and valuable for you in your world, such as the perfect base, or even have an existing world that you consider a permanent one, there is nothing bad in keeping it.
