Energy Crystals in R.E.P.O. are essential for keeping your equipment powered and functional during missions. This guide covers how to obtain Energy Crystals, where to find the Charging Station, and the steps to recharge your gear efficiently. Mastering this process will help you survive and succeed in the game’s toughest challenges.
How to Get Energy Crystals in R.E.P.O.
Energy Crystals are one of the many items available at the Service Station, R.E.P.O.’s store, which is located between each level. This is the only place where you can purchase Energy Crystals, but you’ll only gain access to it after completing the first level. Since the store’s inventory is randomly generated, there’s no guarantee that an Energy Crystal will always be available. The price of a Crystal ranges from $7K to $9K, but the cost doesn’t affect the Crystal’s size or effectiveness.
Because of their high price, it’s wise to gather as many valuables as possible in the first level when the game’s difficulty is at its lowest. Although the quota is randomly generated each time, it’s strongly recommended to exceed it before progressing to the next level to cover the cost of Energy Crystals. Any profit you earn — whether you meet or surpass the quota — can be immediately used at the store to make purchases.
How to Use Energy Crystals and Recharge Equipment in R.E.P.O.
Unlike most R.E.P.O. items, Energy Crystals aren’t directly used or consumed by the player. Instead, they are automatically installed inside the moving R.E.P.O. truck, which serves as your means of traveling to new locations. When you purchase one or more Energy Crystals, they activate an energy container marked with a lightning bolt on its front. This container doesn’t appear at the beginning of a new save file. You can see the crystals stored inside, along with a yellow meter to the right that indicates the current charge level.
Every item, including weapons like the Baseball Bat and Frying Pan, has a charge bar. Energy Crystals power a charging station within the truck, allowing you to recharge your equipment instead of buying replacements when they lose charge. The charging station functions similarly to the one in Lethal Company.
To recharge an item, disable it by pressing “E” and place it inside the compartment to the left of the lightning bolt symbol. The yellow meter will decrease as the item’s charge bar refills. A single Energy Crystal can restore up to four slots on one charge bar. Any item with a charge bar, including Drones, can be recharged as long as there’s some energy left in the Charging Station meter.
Buying six Energy Crystals will fully charge the container’s gauge. However, since each crystal costs between $7K and $9K, filling the gauge could cost you between $42K and $54K. It’s highly recommended to gather these crystals while playing with friends, as dying in single-player mode will delete your save file and reset your progress. This means you’ll have to rebuild your funds from scratch to purchase the crystals again.
Note: Since many devices available in the shop can cost between $30K and $50K, using Energy Crystals to recharge them will help you save a significant amount of money on replacements.
