Keep in mind that many balance updates have been made to the game recently, meaning it is not the right time yet to create a tier list of all the classes.
The choice of the class in Mistfall Hunter does not matter at all as every class provides an interesting experience. Mercenary – Best Class For Beginners
For people who have never played an extraction game before, it is safe to start out with the Mercenary. The Mercenary class uses the Sword & Shield for defence and the Two-Handed Hammer for attacking enemies. It allows you to block the enemy attacks, counter their moves by parrying them and then proceed to strike using the hammer.
The only problem is that the damage inflicted by this class is not too significant compared to other classes, and also, the ranged players will always stay away from you because they have a good distance advantage over you. However, the great thing about Mercenary is that it has very high durability.
Black Arrow – Best Ranged Class
For those who like ranged fighting, Black Arrow is a perfect choice. There are two weapon types: one of which is based on charged attacks that will deal great damage to opponents and fast movement that will help to take out enemies rapidly in open space; another is focused on such abilities as Poison, Bleed, Paralysis, Exhaustion and trapping enemies in order to drain their stamina.
The class offers good utility spells like temporary invisibility and detection of nearby dangers, making it one of the most valuable classes for solo players, since you can explore the dangerous territories without engaging yourself in unnecessary battles. On the other hand, this class is not designed for melee fighting and has low health; thus, a fully charged arrow means that you become easy prey to the opponent.
Sorcerer – Best Overall Class
The Sorcerer class continues to stand out even after release as one of the most powerful classes available and is widely recognised as the best class overall. It has two unique play styles. The Elemental class utilises a combination of Fire, Ice, and Lightning magic to cause huge combo damage to their opponents while freezing them in their tracks. The Stardust style utilises abilities which allow instant casting of certain spells to deliver huge bursts of damage.
Sorcerers excel in the ability to take down enemies in groups, beat up bosses from a safe distance, and deliver large areas of effect damage. Sorcerers have the least amount of health in the game; thus, a single attack from a melee opponent will kill a sorcerer.
Shadowstrix – Best Assassin Class
For players who love to play stealth, Shadowstrix will definitely suit you. Being an assassin-type class, it is designed to kill your enemies before they can realise what is going on. It can hide in the shadows, launch a lethal attack using burst damage, and vanish from their sight. Though having serious damage, Shadowstrix is one of the most vulnerable classes in the game. It avoids being damaged instead of taking it. The early levels can feel a little underwhelming, but the class becomes significantly stronger as you unlock more skills and improve your build.
Seer – Best Support Class
Seer is one of the most useful classes in Mistfall Hunter, with two different playstyles. The first option is a support class, which provides buffs and utility skills to help your team survive and succeed. Another alternative for Seer is the Mace (Revenant) specialisation, which makes the Seer into an aggressive melee damage-dealer.
The supportive role of Seer is extremely helpful during team content. Healers, buffs, and various utility skills make it one of the most helpful classes in terms of 3v3 gameplay. Solo content is more challenging for the magic version of Seer because of the necessity to have good positioning, move constantly, and use the totem effectively. It is fun, but requires much more effort from a player.
The Mace specialisation is better in terms of solo gameplay due to higher survivability and damage, even though it is not so valuable in case of team play as a damage-dealing class. Overall, Seer is an excellent choice if you enjoy supporting teammates or want a class that can switch between support and offence.
Withered Knight – Most Improved Class
Several enhancements have been made to the Withered Knight as compared to previous playtests. This character class used to be weak as it was difficult for this class to reach enemies. Despite having grappling moves and parry attacks, it lacked mobility.
The new Polearm weapon changes that. It gives the class much better reach while also adding valuable team support. This not only increases its reach but also makes it an important character to include on the team in terms of teamwork as well. It has several abilities, one of which is providing shields to your team members. The fact that it is a melee character class does not mean that it is complicated for beginners to play as. It has good survivability and gameplay.
