MH Wilds Armorcharm and Powercharm – How to Get

As expected, Monster Hunter Wilds has reintroduced the recurring stat-boosting inventory items, the Powercharm and Armorcharm. These staples of the series enhance the hunter’s attack and defense, respectively. While they are completely free in Wilds, obtaining them requires completing specific high-rank side quests.

Unlike Monster Hunter Rise, where these charms could simply be purchased from a shop, Wilds challenges players to earn them through tough hunts. Ready for the challenge? Here’s how to get the Armorcharm and Powercharm and start benefiting from their buffs.

How to Get the Armorcharm in MH Wilds

To obtain the Armorcharm, you must first complete the main campaign, unlock the Wounded Hollow, and finish Cobb’s “Secure the Wounded Hollow” optional quest.

Sometime after assisting Cobb, another guild member, Rex, will offer an optional quest at Suja, Peaks of Accord. Titled As Gatekeepers, this quest requires you to hunt two Ajarakan simultaneously in the Wounded Hollow.

This fight is considerably more challenging than the Hirabami duo from the previous quest. It’s crucial to use the center gate to separate the Ajarakan twins; otherwise, you’ll be overwhelmed by relentless attacks with few opportunities to strike back.

Note: Be especially wary of Ajarakan’s powerbomb attack, which starts with it spinning on the ground before launching into the air and slamming down with immense force. Staying defensive and patient will be key to taking down these formidable apes.

How to Get the Powercharm in MH Wilds

After completing the main story, you’ll need to keep raising your Hunter Rank until you unlock Chapter 4-2: Lurking Shadows.

This quest grants access to the Wounded Hollow, a combat arena similar to the one in Monster Hunter World. Once you’ve cleared Lurking Shadows, an NPC named Cobb in Suja, Peaks of Accord, will offer an optional quest called Secure Wounded Hollow. Completing this quest rewards you with the Powercharm.

The quest requires you to hunt two Hirabami simultaneously in the Wounded Hollow. The best strategy is to focus on taking down one Hirabami first before engaging the other. Using a paintball to mark your target can help prevent confusion during the fight. Additionally, you can use the central arena lever to raise the gate, giving you space to recover if needed.

How to Use the Armorcharm and Powercharm in MH Wilds

If you’re new to the Armorcharm and Powercharm, they don’t function like traditional gear or talismans—you won’t equip them directly. Instead, these items must be kept in your inventory to take effect.

After completing the required quests, head to your tent and check the first page of your item box. The charms share the same icon as Lifepowder but are colored brown and red, respectively. Simply transfer them to your inventory, and as long as they remain there, you’ll receive a passive boost to attack and defense.

How to Use Armocharm: After completing the quest, return to Rex to receive the Armorcharm. Be sure to transfer it to your item pouch from your tent—while in your inventory, it boosts your total armor rating by 12.

How to Use Powercharm: After finishing the quest and earning the Powercharm, head to your tent and move it into your item pouch. Keeping it there will boost your total strength by 19 points.

Potential Upgrades for the Charms

In Monster Hunter World, players could upgrade the Armorcharm and Powercharm into the Armortalon and Powertalon, further boosting their defense and attack power. If Monster Hunter Wilds offers a similar upgrade, it has yet to be discovered.
