In Monster Hunter Wilds, the Razzle Dazzle side quest challenges players to catch a Grand Escunite, a rare, glowing aquatic creature. This is the final fishing quest from Kanya in the Scarlet Forest and requires patience and skill. In this guide, we’ll cover where to find the Grand Escunite, the best bait to use, and how to successfully catch it to complete the quest.
How to Begin the Razzle Dazzle Quest
As the final quest in Kanya’s series of fishing challenges, Razzle Dazzle requires you to complete all her previous quests first. These include Seeking the Goldenfish, Fishing for Flavour, and The Catch of a Lifetime. Once those are done, return to Kanya at the Scarlet Forest Base Camp to begin this quest.
This time, you’re after a Grand Escunite—not the regular kind, but the much rarer Grand version. While you won’t have to fight it, finding one and getting it on the hook is the real challenge.
Where to Find the Grand Escunite

Like many of Kanya’s fishing quests, the Scarlet Forest is the best place to search for the Grand Escunite. However, unlike most fish you’ve caught so far, Escunites prefer the damp, dark environment of caves. One of the best places to find them is the cave near the Wudwud Hideout in Area 12, hidden behind the waterfall.
Grand Escunites and regular Escunites look nearly identical, except for their coloration. Regular Escunites have a green-yellow shell and tentacles, while Grand Escunites have a pearlescent sheen. Despite their similarities, the Grand Escunite tends to stand out more in the water, making them easier to spot.
Most Grand Escunites are found in caves, but there’s one exception—you can occasionally find them in the large ocean near Area 17, though this usually only happens when a Feeding Circle is active.
Remember: While Downpour can make fish less common and Fallow reduces visibility, these weather conditions don’t affect cave waters.
Note: Some players have found it easier to locate a Grand Escunite during the evening or nighttime hours. If you’re having trouble finding one, consider resting at a nearby pop-up camp to advance time and improve your chances.
Catching the Grand Escunite With the Best Bait
For this quest, Kanya provides you with an additional bait option—Tentacle Jigs. This bait is specifically designed to attract aquatic creatures with tentacles, making it the ideal choice for catching Escunites.
While it is possible to catch a Grand Escunite using a Common Wood Minnow, it is significantly more challenging to get their attention.
Like many rare fish, Grand Escunites are easily startled, so it’s best to slowly reel in your line when they are nearby. However, once they bite, you can pull them in immediately without any resistance. That’s all there is to it!
Claiming Your Reward from Kanya
After successfully catching a Grand Escunite, return to Kanya at the Scarlet Forest base camp. A slightly longer-than-usual cutscene will play, and once it concludes, you’ll receive your rewards: five Jeweled Mullet Roe, three Gunpowderfish Scales, two Whetfish Fins, and five Sushifish Scales. Additionally, players will earn 300 Guild Points, which can be useful for increasing your Hunter Rank and progressing through the main story.
