How To Win Blaise’s Races – Mina The Hollower

One of the most interesting optional challenges in the game is Blaise’s races. You will face him three times during the game process, and the difficulty of each new race will be increased compared to the previous one. Successfully beating all three races rewards you with valuable items, including the powerful Bellows Bustle trinket that grants Mina an air dash ability. In this guide, we will show you how to Blaise’s Races in Mina the Hollower.

    How To Win Blaise’s Races

Start your journey at the South Gate and go south and then west into the area called Occupied Bridge of the Western Wilds. You will have to dig down to make way for the lava flow, which will fall on rocks and move away the obstruction.

Go towards Molten Forge and remove any obstructions leading to Upper Western Oex. Afterwards, go to the east side of the train station to look for Blaise, who will challenge you to a race to the Oex Central Fountain outside Radiant Manor.

    First Race

Once the race starts, make sure that you jump across all the staircases, including those around Blaise. The toughest challenge will be when passing the Trinket Shop since there will be a big staircase that will block your path. You cannot just jump down the staircase so you are advised to take out your Deflector Parasol side arm.

Using the Deflector Parasol will allow Mina to glide further in the air so that you are able to cross the staircase. Having successfully crossed the staircase, go to the Central Fountain without climbing any more stairs until you arrive at the fountain before Blaise.

    Second Race

After starting the race, go south into the area that is filled with little lava pools and keep moving ahead towards the east side, where you will find a series of staircases. Jumping burrow style would be needed in the case of the first staircase, while you will simply need a regular jump for the second staircase. Moving fast before jumping could make things quite easy for you. Once this part is done, just move along the same path. Use the Deflector Parasol for the big staircase near the Trinket Shop.

    Third Race

The last race will not be unlocked for you until you reach the path leading to Bone Beach. To get to the Bone Beach area, head south from Oex into the Southern Outskirts area and jump onto a platform using a purple bouncing flower. Travel through the Mining Passage until you get to the Sifted Sands.

Before meeting Blaise, make sure to unlock the shortcut connecting Sifted Sands and the Southern Outskirts. To do this, detonate the explosives in front of the tunnel using your bomb. Once done, go into the tunnels, and you will see Blaise near the Bone Beach train station.

As the race starts, move north through the tunnels to get to the shortcut. You can move on the rope in the direction indicated. The hardest part of the race will be where you see floating purple flowers. You will need to cross this section quickly and accurately.

After passing the floating flowers, you will land on a ledge above the shortcut going down towards the NPC known as Moon-Tanning. Blaise moves north from this particular point. However, it is advisable for you to jump over the stairwell and go straight to the Southern Outskirts. Then, approach the front gate of Oex and make your way around the city without climbing any stairwells.
