Upgrading Weapons in Mortal Shell 2 is vital for your progression because as you progress the game, you’ll face tougher enemies. Once you start upgrading your weapons, the game stops feeling random and starts feeling intentional. Instead of relying on “better weapons”, you can use the Tarforge to push the armaments you already own by improving damage, responsiveness and how they perform against increasingly dangerous enemies.
The process has a few moving parts; first you need the Tarforge working, then you need to bring the right materials and spend the required coin at the upgrade menu. As you upgrade, the costs and crafting ingredients increase, so this isn’t just about pressing upgrades, it’s about choosing what to invest in and when.
This guide will help you understand how weapon upgrades work at the Tarforge, how to plan your resources and what to prioritize so your build stays strong as the game ramps up.
Tarforge

To be able to start upgrading your weapons, you need to repair the Tarforge at the Marrow Keep. To repair the Tarforge, you need the Muradean Actuator that can be found inside a beacon at the Village Outskirts; the first beacon you’ll come across during the prologue. You need to opt for the cleanse beacon option to head inside and you can find the muradean actuator in a chest inside the beacon.
Enhancing Weapons

Interact with the Tarforge machine and select the Enhance Weapons option to open the weapons upgrade menu. Once you’re inside, you’ll be able to view which weapons are eligible for upgrading and check what the upgrade will change, such as increased base damage, parry timing etc.

Here you can notice that upgrading weapons require 2 things; Ventrium and Coin. Ventrium is the material component that fuels the forging process, while coin is what you spend to complete the upgrade itself. To make the system feel manageable, the game gives you ways to earn coin consistently; defeating enemies and you can also locate additional coin scattered around the world as loot.

And Ventrium is something you’ll see often in the world of Mortal Shell 2. It can be found lying around in various places as random loot, so whenever you spot it during exploration, grab it right away.Making Ventrium part of your routine collection is important because weapon upgrades don’t stay cheap for long, each time you push a weapon to higher tier, the next upgrade typically costs more and requires more Ventrium than the last.
