The Tarforge Machine in Mortal Shell 2 isn’t just any other machine, it is used to upgrade your weapons. The machine however, is not functional and you need to repair it in order to use it to upgrade weapons. Fortunately for us, you can find the missing piece to repair the tarforge machine early during the prologue. In this guide, I’ll show you exactly where to find the missing part that is required to repair the tarforge, follow along so that you won’t miss it.
Village Outskirts Beacon

During the prologue, when you reach the section shown in the above first image, navigate left and break the boxes blocking your path and drop down below where you’ll come across your first beacon.

Interact with the beacon to revitalize it and you can rest at the beacon to replenish your focus, health and heals. If you interact with the beacon again, it will present you with an option to cleanse the beacon. Selecting this option will teleport you inside the beacon.
Muradean Actuator (Traforge Machine Part)

Once inside the beacon, navigate the path until you reach a room with a chest at the center. Opening the chest will reward you with the Muradean Actuator, which is the missing part that you’ll need to repair the Traforge Machine at the Marrow Keep.
Finding Franz & Traforge Machine

When you’ve finished the prologue and reached the Marrow’s Keep, go through the doorway above the stairs where there’s an NPC standing and continue left after passing through the doorway. At the end of the left passage you’ll find Franz along with the Traforge Machine.
Repairing Traforge Machine

If you talk with Franz, he will tell you about the Traforge condition and its malfunctioning which is preventing it from working as intended. When you’ve collected the missing part, you’ll be presented with an option to give the Muradean Actuator to Franz, giving him the part; will fix the Traforge and it will start functioning as intended.

With the Traforge Machine functioning properly, you can keep upgrading your weapons as you move through the game. A working machine means you can tailor your damage, improve overall effectiveness of the weapons by enhancing them and maintain pressure against progressively tougher enemies. It also helps you stay consistent with your build, since weapon upgrades often change how much damage you inflict in real fights.
