How to Fast Travel to Previous Map Region – MH Wilds

Fast traveling in Monster Hunter Wilds is essential, given the game’s expansive open-world map and the updated Investigation mechanic. While fast travel isn’t a new feature for the series, it has become more intuitive in this latest installment. In Monster Hunter World, fast travel was restricted to camps unlocked across different maps, and it wasn’t strongly encouraged due to the smaller, more compact map designs. Monster Hunter Rise also offered limited fast travel options. However, Monster Hunter Wilds has significantly improved the fast travel system, making it more streamlined and accessible.

Here’s everything you need to know about fast travel in Monster Hunter Wilds, including its requirements, limitations, and more.

Fast Traveling in Monster Hunter Wilds

To fast travel in Monster Hunter Wilds, open the map, locate the symbol for the camp you’ve previously visited, and press A (or X) to travel instantly. Alternatively, press Y (or Triangle) to access the overworld map, where you can select a region and view the available fast travel points.

Now that you know how to fast travel, you can quickly revisit any previously explored area, making it easier to grind materials for weapon upgrades. For more challenges, check out our build guides, such as the best Insect Glaive or Dual Blades build in MH Wilds.

Note: Another way to quickly fast travel to a camp in Monster Hunter Wilds is by using the Farcaster. This unique item can be carried during expeditions and allows hunters to escape tricky situations, including intense monster battles, by instantly returning to a previously visited camp.

Requirements to Unlock Fast Travel in Monster Hunter Wilds

The Windward Plains, the game’s first region, becomes accessible for exploration after completing the Prologue and the Quematrice Hunt. Once free exploration is unlocked, you can fast travel from anywhere on the map to your Base Camp (or Pop-Up Camps if you’ve unlocked and set them up). This process is similar for new regions; completing the necessary story mission unlocks free exploration.

As you progress, you’ll also unlock NPC locations as fast travel points. For instance, you can fast travel directly to Kunafa Village (Windward Plains) and the Wudwud Hideout (Scarlet Forest). Given the vast open world of MH Wilds, you’ll frequently use fast travel to quickly move between locations.

While the Seikret is excellent for navigation and reducing travel time to objectives, fast traveling saves you even more time.
