The Witcher 3 Remastered offers various Places of Power throughout the lands of Velen, in both the forests and swamps as well as the ruins scattered around. Once you tap into the energy of a Place of Power for the very first time, you receive an additional ability point, which is why they are valuable locations that are best discovered early on. Here are all eight Places of Power locations in Velen and Novigrad, along with how to reach them.
All Places of Power Locations In Velen
There are some places called “Places of Power” in The Witcher 3 where you can get additional points for your abilities. There are many such places both in the regions of Velen and Novigrad. However, there are two “Places of Power” which will be accessible only after advancing in the storyline.
Alness
Take off from the Signpost for Hanged Man’s Tree, which is where you land in Velen. After this, go north towards the Signpost for Alness, where you will locate the Place of Power in the southeast of the signpost. The Place of Power will be situated on a small hill at the crossroads.
Lornruk
For your next Place of Power, make your way to Lornruk in the northwest of Velen. There is a Wyvern protecting the area, but the bridge leading to the tower is raised. You won’t need to defeat the Wyvern or lower the bridge because all you have to do is jump into the water and swim towards the tower. Look for an entrance beneath the water and go inside to get your next Place of Power.
Downwarren
Use the fast travel option for the Downwarren waypoint and go westward from there. You will see a rocky surface, and you have to climb up on it. Further, follow the rock and jump to cover the small gap and get to the Place of Power, where you can obtain three points of ability.
Cave Near Downwarren (Quest-Locked)
In addition to the above, there is one more Place of Power marked on the map near Downwarren, which you cannot use right away. The stone is located in a cave that can be entered using an object provided to you by Keira Metz in the course of the quests. You will need to do several quests for Keira Metz in order to get this object and enter the cave.
Ancient Oak
Travel to the location where there is a signpost for Ancient Oak in the south portion of Velen. From there, you have to locate the big tree and move to its western side. Travel down the grassy slope to get to Igni Place of Power and gain another ability point.
Novigrad – Temple Isle
This Place of Power can be accessed by going to Novigrad and fast travelling to the Electors’ Square landmark. From here, head around the guards and the Temple of Eternal Fire until you arrive at the cliffs near the water on the north side of the island. Here you will see the Igni Place of Power resting on an overhang. This place is not guarded by any enemies, meaning that you will get the ability point easily.
Bald Mountain (Story-Locked)
The next place of power is found on Bald Mountain in southern Velen, but you cannot visit it until the game has progressed enough. The reason for this is that there will be a wooden gate blocking your way there. But once the game has progressed enough, you will be able to return and get an ability point.
Frischlow Swamp
In order to get the last Place of Power, make your way to the south region of Velen close to Frischlow. Go in the direction of the swamp and start searching for the Aard Place of Power along the edge of the swamp. You do not have to undertake any mission in order to get this stone, which lies in the open.
