How To Capture Creatures – Revenge Of The Savage Planet

In Revenge of the Savage Planet, capturing alien wildlife is more stylish and giving than outright fun. With your trusty lasso whip, you can capture all sizes of critters, put them in a creature pen, conduct research, and unlock some funky outfit colors in the process. Here’s how to become an ethicist and a patient intergalactic creature collector.

How to Capture Creatures

Really, it’s the planets, and all their strange and wonderful beings, that are the real stars of this game. There are tons of them, each presenting a different sort of combat challenge. But let’s face it: at times, a bonus would be just to check out these fascinating creatures without clashing with them, right? Well, good news: you can capture your favorite creatures and just admire them. Don’t worry; it doesn’t infringe on their rights.

Whip It Good: Getting Started with Capturing

To start grabbing those alien creatures, you’ll want to get the lasso whip. Equipped, it replaces your normal melee attacks and lets you strike enemies at range. Later on, you will be able to swing from grapple points, which is convenient—and also how you grab creatures.

Here’s how the process works:

  • Hold down the whip button until you start spinning it over your head.
  • Aim at a creature; once your reticle locks on and the camera follows, you’re good to throw.

The lasso works a bit differently depending on the creature, so here’s how to handle both types.

How to Capture Regular Creatures

These are your small, no-weak-point-type critters. Capturing them is pretty straightforward:

  • Throw your lasso.
  • Hold the highlighted button to pull them in.

Tips for Success:

  • You’re not invincible while capturing, so make sure no other enemies are nearby.
  • The closer you are, the faster you’ll reel them in.
  • Small creatures generally won’t break free, so just keep pulling.

How to Capture Big Creatures with Weak Spots

Larger creatures are a bit trickier—they all have specific weak points.
For example:

  • Crushers: Weak point on their tail
  • Beetles: Weak spot is the unarmored part of their shell

To capture them:

  • Hit their weak point to stagger them (usually takes two or more hits).
  • Be careful not to deal too much damage—you want to capture, not kill.
  • Once staggered, they can be pulled in like the smaller ones.

Note: Some tougher creatures will occasionally ask you to ease off while pulling, kind of like when you’re reeling in a fish.

Where Do the Creatures Go?

After capture, creatures get sucked into the void—which sounds sketchy—but don’t panic. The first time you do this on Stellaris Prime, you’ll need to summon a creature pen from orbit to store them. Until the pen arrives, they’re kind of in limbo—but it’s temporary!

On other planets:

  • The creature pen is automatically called down before you arrive.
  • Storing creatures in a void forever would definitely cross a line.

Why Capture Creatures?

Once the pen’s ready, all your captured creatures pop out of the void and settle in.

  • You can interact with each one for a fun little animation.
  • Otherwise, they just wander around the pen, living their best (and smaller) life.

Bonus Feature: Creature Research

You can study captured creatures using the computer in your habitat.

  • Research time varies from 1 to 6 minutes, depending on the creature’s size.
  • Every creature unlocks a new color scheme for your outfit!

Your outfit has four pieces, and each one can be recolored individually. So if you’re all about that planetary fashion, make sure you’re grabbing every creature you come across.
