Death is one of the final main story quests in Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred. The quest begins as soon as you complete Horadrim, and your character is taken to a strange and mysterious place known as The Mind’s Eye. Along the way, you will fight powerful enemies, destroy Spires of Hatred, and survive a fight with Mephisto. In this guide we will show you how to complete the Death quest in Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred.
Death Quest
Death is one of the main quests that can be found in Diablo 4. After Horadrim is done, you will be teleported to a new location, The Mind’s Eye. After reaching this location, you have to explore it and find Lilith.
After reaching The Mind’s Eye, you should travel north. Along the way, Malevolent Abominations will spawn and try to attack. You should fight off these enemies and defend Lilith. Once the area is clear, speak with Lilith and then interact with the Fragments of Memory nearby. Doing this will remove the barrier blocking your way.
Go north within the region, and you will find the Spires of Hatred. Ensure that each and every spire is destroyed, because spires generate more enemies. You will find it easier to advance once the spires are removed. Once you get to the end of the path, you should destroy the last spire of hatred. After that, let Lilith open up a path for you.
Defeating Mephisto
Next, talk to the Fragments of Memories that are close to you. You will be teleported to another area in The Mind’s Eye. Move north along the path until you reach Wolf’s March, where you will find Mephisto for the first time.
In the fight against Mephisto, you should expect an attack named Failing Light. To survive this attack, go to the centre of the arena and stay there. Lilith will shield you from this attack, helping you take the damage.
Following the attack, another way will lead to the west, and follow it up till your character drops from exhaustion and gets teleported to The Last Refuge. After arriving there, move towards the destination marked on the map, and interact with the refuge to start a cutscene, during which Mephisto will appear in a big size.
During the scene, Lilith says that you must sever your connection with her in order to survive. When the cutscene ends, go to the portal located to the northeast and step through it. This will take you back to The First Vault and complete the Death quest.
