Beneath Windrose’s salt-stung horizons lie the Blackbeard Ruin’s buried secrets – treasures and caches that push exploration from casual sailing into full blown treasure hunting. This guide focuses on the Blackbeard Ruins Excavation Site: the locations of the treasure chests, cache rewards, follow these steps and you’ll turn aimless island hopping into a reliable route for piastres, gold and rare loot.
Blackbeard Ruins Excavation Site Location
Windrose has a procedurally generative map, so the exact location of the ruins may differ from what you get, but the best way possible to find these ruins is to progress the main questline Needle in a Haystack. You’ll come across a few other points of interest on the island when you are progressing the main questline and one of those is the Blackbeard Ruins where you’ll find lots of loot including gunpowder, gold ingots, piastres etc.
Treasure Chests Location

Initially, the ruins will be crawling with pirates and you need to clear them before opening the chest because some chests are locked and you need a key to open them which can be obtained only after killing the sergeant sailor – it shows a small key symbol near the name of the enemy. Then go through the main entrance of the ruins and you’ll come across an underground chamber, go inside.

Navigate through the underground chamber and you’ll reach a locked door beyond which a treasure chest lies. Opening the door is very simple, you just need to interact with the symbols on the wall as shown in the above image, this will unlock the doors and you can claim the treasure chest rewards. Then go back above to claim the remaining two treasures.

When you are out of the main ruin building, you’ll notice that there are two additional ruin buildings as shown in the above image and you can find a treasure chest in each of them.

To get to the treasure on the right, you need to get above the ruins through the marked path as depicted in the above first image and then drop down into the room below. You’ll find an ancient chest inside the room.

Then get to the other building and find a room in the ruins and you’ll notice a dilapidated wall, which can be broken using a pickaxe and you’ll find an ancient chest inside.
Gold Ingot Caches

While you’re exploring the ruins, make sure to claim the contents of the ancient container. These containers consist of gold ingots, and there are quite a number of containers spread throughout the ruins, so keep an eye out for them.
