Several types of arrows and bolts can be unlocked within the game, and all provide their own methods for dealing with the enemies and bosses. While some manuals are found scattered throughout the world, others can be earned by completing side quests or purchased from travelling merchants. As the game does not always let you know where they are located, you may accidentally miss a couple along the way. This guide covers the location of every Arrow and Bolt Manual, along with the requirements needed to unlock them, so you can collect them all without wasting time searching.
All Arrow & Bolt Types Manual Locations
Before gathering any sort of arrows, the first thing that you will have to unlock is the bow. This can be easily achieved by completing the game’s storyline until you manage to clear the Foreman mission from the Sub-city area. The moment you defeat your enemies and clear your objectives successfully, you will unlock the bow. In order to make use of bolts, you must get a crossbow. You do not need to unlock the crossbow. Emma has the Spring Thunder Crossbow available in her loadout right from the start of the game.
Fire Arrows Manual Location
Travel to the marked location just west of Cleans Walker. You will see that there is a big tree with a tunnel in front of it. Enter the tunnel and keep going until you get to the other end of it.
Head uphill and find the little camp of the enemies. Before getting the item, kill the two robots that guard this place since it will be much easier to get the Fire Arrows afterwards. After killing them all, enter the cabin that can be found on the right side of this camp and take the Fire Arrows from the ground. Then access your inventory and equip them.
Acid Bolts Manual Location
Go to the first zone and head to the Seal located on the left side of the map. Go near the Rusted Golem and talk to him. The golem will give you a side quest that rewards you with the Acid Bolts once completed.
Collect the Mechanical Part
Once you accept the mission, head towards the destination shown on your map. Search the area for the Scrap Mechanical Part. Examine it to collect the quest item.
Defeat the Elite Enemy
Next, come back to the nearest camp and take the elevator to get into the quest area. The enemy will be an elite one, but he won’t pose a problem for you if you’re patient enough. Once the enemy is defeated, go back to the Rusted Golem to finish your side quest. You will get rewarded with:

Finally, rest at any camp and equip the Acid Bolts. They’re now permanently unlocked and can be used whenever you want.
Acid Arrows & Fire Bolts Manuals Location
However, not all the arrow manuals can be obtained by exploring. Some of them can be bought only from the Wandering Merchant whom you meet in every region. The manuals that you can purchase in Ogouchi Buffer Zone include:
- Acid Arrows Manual – 950
- Fire Bolts Manual – 950
Always ensure that you have enough money whenever you meet this merchant since the manuals cannot be obtained anywhere else.
Lightning Arrows Manual Location
The Lightning Arrows manual cannot be located by searching through the map. It is necessary to purchase this item from the Wandering Merchant at Ancient Civilisation Zone. This manual is priced at 1,530, so you should ensure that you have a sufficient amount of money before purchasing it. Purchasing the manual would unlock the use of Lightning Arrows.
Poison Arrows Manual Location
Poison Arrows Manual can be found in the tent, which is located under a table, in the west part of Flower Field Tower Camp. The location of the Poison Arrows Manual is full of enemy units, apart from Malefacts. Hence, instead of heading for the Poison Arrows Manual immediately, it is advisable to kill off the enemies in the location first before retrieving the manual. Once the area is safe, head to the tent and pick up the manual to unlock the Poison Arrows.
Poison Bolts & Explosive Bolts Manual Locations
The Poison Bolts Manual and Explosive Bolts Manual cannot be discovered during your exploration. Rather, you will have to buy them from the Wandering Merchant in The Great Wall Terraces. The prices are as follows:
- Poison Bolts Manual – 2,340
- Explosive Bolts Manual – 2,070
Make sure you have enough money before meeting the merchant. Buying them will allow you access to both kinds of bolts forever.
Explosive Arrows Manual Location
Explosive Arrows Manual can be found somewhere in the early parts of this area. From the point of origin, make your way west and follow the road through the huge pipes and move onto the next solid ground. Move a little bit north from there to find a Golem, which will be quite calm and friendly. Explosive Arrows Manual can be found here too.
Lightning Bolts Manual Location
Lightning Bolt Manual is located in the Giant Tree Zone; however, you will need to advance the plot a bit in order for it to become accessible. Prior to this point, advance the main storyline until you defeat Corvus and get the Card Key (Line One). After obtaining it, teleport to Cableway – Line 1: Base Station camp and go north to the location where you’ve fought several Malefacts earlier.
Meet The Worldly Golem

You will come across some more bird Malefacts, along with using your Hookshot quite a bit. Once you start spotting the bandaged golems, that means you are close to your target. Reach The Final Area
Travel fast to Cableway – Line 2: Peak B and get on the cableway once more. After getting off, cross the bridge ahead to reach the Cableway – Line 2: Checkpoint camp. Nearby is the final cableway you need to use. This is the last cableway you are required to take. After arriving at the next station, unlock the Cableway – Line 2: Terminal Stop camp.
Collect The Lightning Bolt Manual
Head towards the marked location, and there will be a building which has a bear Malefact protecting it, along with a few birds. Proceed into the building and make use of the elevator to reach the lower floor and talk to Fortress General, who is pinned against the wall.
You will be asked to visit the storage room. Make use of the elevator again to return to the upper floor, and as soon as you exit the building, turn to your right. Jump up on the platform above and investigate the table to pick up the Lightning Bolt Manual and permanently unlock this skill.
