Dungeon Three in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is Lord Jabu-Jabu’s Belly. You will be required to find Princess Ruto, retrieve the Boomerang, and fight numerous foes in order to face the boss, Barinade, who will be waiting for you. This dungeon also houses four Gold Skulltulas and several items that you should pick up. In this walkthrough, we’ll show you how to complete the dungeon and find all its collectibles.
Lord Jabu Jabu’s Belly
Now, after you enter the belly of Jabu-Jabu, look upwards, and use your slingshot to strike at the yellow uvula that will glow. The uvula will be colored green and allow you to proceed on with the level. While exploring the level, you will come across four Gold Skulltulas and the Boomerang.
Find Princess Ruto
First, defeat the two enemies protecting the locked door with the shield attack that reflects projectiles back at the enemies. Then, open the door by shooting the switch above it with the Slingshot.
During your journey in the dungeon, you will encounter some electric jellyfishes named Biris. It is better not to fight with your sword against them while they glow because they will shock you. Instead, throw the Deku Nut to stun them first and then hit with your sword.
Go further and search for Princess Ruto who is located in a big room. She is angry with you because you have shown the letter to her father. She orders you to go away and jumps into a hole.
Follow her into a lower part of the dungeon where she explains to you that she has lost her precious stone somewhere in Jabu-Jabu. She wants to take it back, so she will accept your help. Pick her up and continue your journey.
Map
Take Ruto to the next room where there are two switches which regulate the water level. Start by falling into the empty pool and toss Ruto over to the other side. Press the switch on the bottom to increase the water level and allow yourself to swim over to the chest on the left side.
Gold Skulltula #1
While you are still in the same room, you should make your way to the right side where there will be vines. Go up using the vines until you get to an alcove where you should kill the Gold Skulltula.
Hidden Business Scrub Shop
Once you have retrieved Ruto, swim to the other side of the gap. In the next chamber, use your shield to reflect the projectiles fired at you by the enemy. Shoot the switch from the ceiling in order to ride the elevator.
However, before riding the elevator, you need to locate the underwater tunnel leading away from it. Swim inside the tunnel and look for a Business Scrub there. Use your shield to reflect its projectiles to beat it. After beating it, you will be able to buy Deku Seeds, Deku Nuts, and a Business Scrub Seed for 30 Rupees.
Reach The Upper Level
Head back to the elevator, get Ruto and take the elevator to the upper floor. Head towards the door in front of you to reach the room that has several holes in the floor.
Forget about the holes and move ahead to the door located at the end of the room. In the next room, activate the switch located on the left hallway to open the door in front of you.
Get The Boomerang
Go into the fog-filled room and kill all the Stingers using your Slingshot. After defeating them all, a chest will spawn with the Boomerang.
The Boomerang can be used in various ways during the dungeon such as stunning enemies, picking up faraway items, and breaking tentacles.
Destroy The Vines
Exit from the Boomerang room and get back into the main hallway. Search for the floor switch to the right side and put Ruto on it to hold the door open when you move inside the room.
In this room, there will be the first Parasitic Tentacle. Target your boomerang towards its vulnerable area in the center and strike it a few times to kill it.
Move out of the room and proceed through the left hallway to locate the second tentacle that is blue in color. Strike it with your boomerang till you kill it.
Compass
At the next junction, enter the room on your right. There will be a number of bubbles floating in this room. Destroy all of them using your Boomerang. After completing the room, a chest will spawn in the center of the room. Collect the Compass of the dungeon from the chest.
Destroy The Vines
Proceed from the Compass room to the last room located at the far end of the hallway. You will see the green Parasitic Tentacle there. It is a little stronger than the previous ones since it employs attacks of the previous tentacles together. In addition, you will be attacked by flying creatures during this battle. Keep hitting the weak spot of the tentacle using the Boomerang.
Drop Down The Correct Hole
Now that all the tentacles have been destroyed, the hole in the main room that had been sealed before will be reachable. Head back to the room with numerous holes in the floor and make sure you have Ruto with you. Find the new hole which is located on the right side and jump into it. This will take you to an elevated platform in the room below.
Gold Skulltula #2
Once you fall through the hole, check your right-hand side. You will see a Gold Skulltula clinging to the wall. Kill it and take its token using the Boomerang.
Red Rupee Chest
Before proceeding, however, you have the option of acquiring a Red Rupee. Simply jump off the high platform and go through the door at the bottom of it. In this room, you will encounter two squid enemies and another enemy which resembles a flan. Stun all the enemies with your Boomerang before crossing the water to get the Red Rupee from the chest. Afterwards, simply climb the vines and jump into the hole to get back to the main path.
Gold Skulltula #3
From the elevated platform, look inside the nearby tunnel instead of looking over the right side. You’ll find another Gold Skulltula near the tunnel’s entrance. Defeat it and collect the token before moving forward.
Defeat The Squid Boss
After Ruto gets captured, Big Octo arrives in that very room. This giant Octorok mini-boss moves around the purple platform. Circulate around the platform until you are behind him. Next, use your boomerang to hit the green spot on his back to stun him. When he becomes stunned, strike him with your sword. Watch out for the Shabom bubbles floating around the arena. Keep repeating this strategy until Big Octo is defeated.
Gold Skulltula #4
Before you enter the boss room, there is a pillar where you need to search for the final Gold Skulltula, which is seen crawling there. Kill it with your arrows, and after that, climb the pillar to collect the Gold Token.
After collecting the token, climb up through the vines. There will be a hanging switch found on the other side of the fence. Use your Boomerang and throw it slightly towards the left side of the fence to reach the switch and open the boss door.
Defeat Barinade Boss
Barinade or Bioelectric Anemone is the boss that awaits Link in Jabu-Jabu’s Belly. It is hanging on the roof, and using electric attacks, which make it impossible for you to reach it. First of all, you should throw your Boomerang at the tentacles, which connect Barinade to the roof, until you sever all of them.
After that, Barinade starts spinning with the help of Biri, the jellyfish. As soon as Biri stops spinning, throw your Boomerang at them and kill them with your sword. When there are no Biri left, Barinade will start chasing you across the arena, shooting electric beams from its body. Throw your Boomerang at Barinade to stun it and attack its vulnerable orange part with your sword. Repeat this strategy until Barinade is defeated.
Heart Container
Ruto appears after defeating Barinade in the boss room. Pick up the Heart Container to gain health and enter the blue portal with her.
