Kall Fimbulbringer is the last, as well as one of the most difficult bosses you will encounter in Valheim. Getting to Kall Fimbulbringer involves navigating through the lands of Mörkhalla, gathering Malicious Blood, and surviving the boss gauntlet. The boss has a large amount of HP, as well as resistances to various types of damage. This guide covers how to summon Kall, prepare for the fight, defeat each phase, and collect his rewards.

    How To Summon Kall Fimbulbringer

Look for stone constructions in the Deep North mountains and locate the entrance to Mörkhalla. After that, open the locked gate by using the Intricate Key to proceed to the dungeon.

Head to the end of Mörkhalla to meet a Malicious Ice and get the Vegvisir that will lead you to the Aesir Passage. These Vegvisirs may also be found near Ancient Altars in the Deep North. Destruction of Malicious Ice in Mörkhalla triggers the start of the Jotun Invasion anywhere on the map.

Before entering the dungeon, set up the protected portal and chest with backup gear next to the gate of Mörkhalla. The dungeon is very long, and this will save you a lot of effort if you respawn.

    Collect Malicious Blood

Once the Jotun Invasion is triggered, another Malicious Ice will spawn on the site of your invasion. Kill it and acquire the Malicious Blood. You have to get three of these items before reaching the last altar. Just keep them stored safely in your inventory until you get all three and make it to the altar.

Offer The Blood And Defeat The Bosses

Once you have 3 Malicious Blood, offer them at the altar to unlock the Aesir Passage. Enter the passage to reach The Prison, where you’ll face a difficult boss gauntlet featuring every previous Forsaken. After defeating the final boss in the gauntlet, you’ll have a chance to recover before approaching Kall. Kall remains inactive until you get close to him, so use this opportunity to prepare yourself.

Before making the offering, eat your best food, refresh your long-lasting resistance effects, activate the most useful Forsaken Power, and repair all your weapons. The gauntlet does not give you a safe place to pause, so going in fully prepared will make the fight much easier.

    Kall Fimbulbringer Boss Fight Preparation

Kall Fimbulbringer is highly resistant to all forms of attacks, and thus the selection of weapons should be made carefully. Kall is immune to spirit attacks, and he takes less damage from pierce, fire, frost, and lightning attacks, but he is fully vulnerable to blunt and slash damage.

Therefore, the new weapons of Frostfire and Thunderblood should not be considered the most efficient ones in this encounter. You will find it significantly easier to defeat Kall by using weapons which do physical damage.

    • One of the weapons which can help you is Nord Sledge, which gives 200 blunt damage.
    • Another great weapon to use is Thunderblood Sledge, which offers 235 blunt damage.
    • If you prefer slash damage, then you can try Nord Greatsword and Nord Sword.
    • Nord Mace, dealing 170 blunt damage, is yet another alternative.

    Kall Fimbulbringer’s Attacks Explained

Note: Kall Fimbulbringer’s total HP stacks up to 47,000. There are three stages for the fight, and with each fight, he will have 10,000 in stage one, 7,000 in the second stage, and 30,000 in the third stage.

The chains also prove more threatening than what one initially perceives because they can span over most of the arena. This means that simply standing back is not going to save you at all times. The chain-based attacks of this boss will be complemented by fire and frost damage during the third phase of the fight.

    • The most powerful of his attacks is the Chain Rush that causes 125 blunt and pierce damage.
    • The Chain Slam is an overhead attack where Kall smashes down with one or both chains. It deals 160 blunt damage and can be blocked, although the attack has enough force to drain a lot of your stamina.
    • The Chain Sweep is a wide horizontal swing that covers much more space than its animation suggests. When you see it coming, moving toward Kall can actually be safer than trying to run away from the attack.
    • The Chain Whirl makes Kall spin both chains around himself, dealing 150 blunt and 20 frost damage.
    • During the third phase, the attack becomes even more dangerous and adds 50 fire and 50 frost damage.
    • The Chain Rush is a quick lunge that lets Kall close the distance between you. It deals 125 blunt and 125 pierce damage, making it his hardest single hit.
    • The Chain Flurry is a series of rapid chain attacks that deal 250 total blunt damage. Kall only uses this attack during the third phase, so be especially careful once the fight reaches this point.

    Summon The Forsaken

The second phase is different from the others. Kall becomes invincible to all attacks, both chopping and pickaxes, during this phase. The player doesn’t attack Kall himself; he needs to take care of the Forsaken aspects summoned by him.

Kall launches seven projectiles that summon versions of the bosses you defeated earlier. These include the Lightning Stag, Living Forest, Writhing Dead, Dragon Mother, Twisted Soul, Crawling Matriarch, and Emerald Flame.

Kall can also summon Tendrils around the arena. They do not stay forever and will disappear automatically after a set amount of time, so you can avoid wasting attacks on them if you can safely move around the arena.

    How to Beat Kall Fimbulbringer

When Kall summons its tendrils, back away, but not too far. When you get too close, you will be slammed, but if you are too far, Kall will zap you with lightning. Once the tendril attack is done, Kall will move on to the chain attacks.

Once the attacks are over, only then step in while the boss is recovering. If you wish to move in during the chain attacks, then you need a strong shield to help you out. Use it to block or parry the attacks while you push forward. Try not to keep the shield raised at all times, as it will drain your stamina. Rather, keep your eye on the chain, then wait for it to land on your character before drawing it out.

Also, at some point, Ice will start falling around the arena. These can’t be blocked, so keep running until the segment ends. Similarly, follow the same tactic for the Corkscrew attack, as this can’t be blocked either. The biggest factor you need to keep in mind is your stamina.

Stamina recovery is only possible when Kall is at rest, so use this time to not move. Also avoid moving a lot during the chain attacks and only run forward to land some hits. You need all that stamina to run from the Ice and Corkscrew attacks, so save as much stamina as possible.

You could use Neckstabber alongside Fader Power to increase Adrenaline and reduce the stamina wasted. If things get tough, you could always ask your friends for support.

    Kall Fimbulbringer Rewards

Defeating Kall Fimbulbringer awards the player with three things. They get one Crown Jewel, one Sacrificial Blood, and finally the recipe to create the Crown of Valheim. The Crown of Valheim is the most valuable among all the awards. Once you craft and equip it, you gain the Royalty effect, which prevents creatures from attacking you.
