When we are thrown into a mining colony, our offensive options are a rusty sword and a blunt axe of 10 damage, which feel like aggressive tickling rather than hunting animals like Scavengers and Molerats. If you want to stop running from every animal and want to deal a certain amount of damage, you need a weapon. Here comes the Steel Menace
This gives 36 damage in an early game, which is a massive boost in your arsenal; most mid-tier weapons require higher strength, but this blunt weapon needs only 28 strength
It completely shifts the power balance, knocking enemies or animals to the ground, shattering their shells open. If you want to look comfortable clearing a wilderness camp, getting the steel Menace should be on your list.
Steel Menace Location
We can find the Steel Menace at the old mine site, marked on the map below.

How to Get Steel Menace
Once you’re at the mine site, follow the track to your right, which will lead you to the underground mining station. Go straight along the wooden ramp, turn right, and head down the ramp as shown in the image below.

To get to the level, turn slightly to your left and walk through the curving wooden ramp, as shown in the image below.

Follow the path to your left that slopes down to the next lower floors, as shown in the image below.

Now you will be at Chief Ian’s station. Walk straight past him to turn left and head down, as shown in the image below.

As you reach the bottom of the wooden ramp, turn left and head straight, following the directional arrow in the image below.

Turn left at the end of the path. Move along a dirt path that goes straight ahead, as shown in the image below.

At the end, turn left and take the wooden ramp heading down, follow the directions to the mining area, as shown in the image below.

Now head to the tunnel, as shown in the image below.

Just follow the track to reach a small nest of Minecrawlers.
As this is an early game, to loot the Steel Menace, the hero might not have the ability to clear the minecrawlers’ nest, but we can use the guards to clear a small nest.
Walk carefully in the tunnel until you spot a Minecrawlers, and hit it with a ranged weapon to lure them outside the tunnel. Once they cross a certain line, the guard near them or the templar in the area will automatically attack them with their weapons. Do this until you clear all the minecrawlers. Once all is cleared, head inside and collect your Steel Menace and other items lying in the dirt.
