Whether you are stepping into a fire lizard lair, fighting against orc shamans, or dealing with magic traps, fire damage in Gothic ignores physical armor and melts you in seconds. That is where the Fire Ring of Protection comes in.
As this ring is a vital defence accessory in the game, you can loot or buy it in the colony. This grants you a certain level of defence from blazing flames, giving you survivability to fight or explore volcanic pockets in Gothic. This guides you to where you can loot the ring in the early game of Gothic Chapter 1.
Fire Ring of Protection Location
We can find the Fire Ring of Protection at the old mine site, marked on the map in the image below.
As this is the early game, to get the Fire Ring of Protection, the hero might not have the ability to clear the Minecrawlers’ nest, but we can use the guards to clear a small nest.

How to Get the Fire Ring of Protection
Once you’re at the mine site, follow the track to your right, which will lead you to the underground mining station. Go straight along the wooden ramp, turn right, and head down the ramp as shown in the image below.

Now, on the next level, turn slightly to your left and walk through the curving wooden ramp, as shown in the image below.

Follow the path toward your left that slopes down to the next lower floor, as shown in the image below.

Now you will be at Chief Ian’s station. Walk straight past him to turn left and head down, as shown in the image below.

Now we will be at the entrance of the Minecrawlers’ tunnel, where the fire ring of protection is located, as shown in the image below.

That tunnel has been infested with Minecrawlers, but it can be cleared with the help of Templars, who will be guarding the tunnel.
Note
Do not walk around with your weapons drawn, as the Digger and the Shadows are paranoid about weapons, which might cause them to mistake you for a threat and start attacking.
Walk into the tunnel and attack any one of the Minecrawlers and wait for them to get closer, and then run towards the Templars. Do not swing the weapons near the Templars. Once they’re out of their nest, the standing Templar guards will auto-attack the minecrawlers. Do this until you clear out all the Minecrawlers. There should only be 4 Minecrawlers in the tunnel. Once the path is cleared, search the area for other items alongside the Fire Ring of Protection to be claimed.
