The Ancient Altar puzzle in the Cursed Swamps is a short environmental challenge that unlocks a few rewards when solved. This guide explains the altar’s activation steps, the required offerings and lists the rewards so you can breeze through the puzzle on your first visit.
Ancient Altars Location
During your main questline – Forgotten Relics, you’ll come across these Ancient Altars as points of interest on one of the cursed swamp islands. These ancient altars can be identified on the map by the symbol that is shown in the above image, and these ancient altars are heavily guarded by enemies.
Ancient Altars Mechanism
These Ancient Altars require you to submit offerings to it and in return it rewards you with items like Ritual Dagger of the High Priestess and Gold Mask of the Priest.
Note : You don’t need to visit these Ancient Altar in any particular order, they can be completed in any order, so feel free to complete any one that you come across first.
One of the altars requires you to submit an offering of 30 Cocoplums. You can find them spread throughout the Cursed Swamps and they look like blueberries. After you offer 30 cocoplums to the ancient altar – it will reward you with a Ritual Dagger of the High Priestess.
Another Ancient Altar requires you to offer 9 healing herbs, these are mostly found in treasure chests and caches found in ruins or sailor camps. When you offer 9 healing herbs, you get another Ritual Dagger of the High Priestess.
One ancient altar needs you to offer 30 Bromeliad Flowers. These are commonly found near the infected areas in the Cursed Swamp biome. They grow in the water and are red as shown in the above second image. You get the third Ritual Dagger of the High Priestess upon completing the ritual.
Once you’ve collected all 3 ritual daggers, it will complete the Ritual Daggers of the High Priestess collection challenge.
The fourth ancient altar requires you to offer 5 crocodile tails, it’s pretty self-explanatory, you need to kill crocodiles to harvest their tails. You’ll receive 2x Gold Mask of the Priest upon completing the ritual of the altar.
The final ancient altar requires you to offer 5 ancient spices. When I first saw the name ancient spice, I got confused because I never found a resource like that throughout my gameplay. That’s because this resource introduces itself as Mysterious Spice and not ancient spice. I had to scratch my head to realise that these both are the same thing, but you don’t have to. You can find these ancient spices through caches and chests in the cursed swamps. Upon completing the ritual you’ll receive 2x Gold Mast of the Priest.
