Welcome aboard, Captain! Whether you’re patching leaks after your first skirmish or planning a fleet worthy overhaul, the Shipwright’s Tools are your best friend in Windrose. This guide walks you through the ship upgrades, practical crafting tips and how to get the shipwright’s tools for upgrades – so you can spend less time fumbling with menus and building powerful ships.
Shipwright’s Workshop

To start upgrading your ship, you’re going to need Shipwright’s Workshop, which you can build through the building menu and when you’ve met the main questline requirement. Make sure to build the workshop under a roof, otherwise you can’t interact with the workshop.

You can create high tier items through the create tab in the Shipwright’s Workshop or you can upgrade your current equipped items through the upgrade tab. Creating high tier items require some resources that can only be found through different biomes, like for example – to create a tier 6 12-pounders, I would need timber which is craftable only through hardwood that is found in Foothills biome. And tier 11 requires few biome specific resources like Mire Metal Ingot, Tarred Planks, which can be unlocked only after you’ve reached the Cursed Swamps biome and most importantly Shipwright’s Tools.
Note : You can check out my guide on How to make Mire Metal Ingot.
Obtaining Shipwright’s Tools

Shipwright’s Tools are not craftable, but purchasable through provisioner of Brethren of The Coast. Now you can find their base along the way when you’re progressing your main questline or you’ve to progress the Tortuga quest, because Tortuga acts as a common hub for all factions and if you’ve unlocked Tortuga then you can buy Shipwright’s Tools through the Brethren of the Coast provisioner at Tortuga.
Gather the resources required for your desired ship upgrade and you can ascend your ship through the Shipwright’s Workshop.
