Fishing in Windrose is a peaceful, high value activity that pays off more than just meals – it supplies crafting ingredients, steady income and rare materials if you learn where to cast and which bait to use. This guide walks you through a step by step explanation on when we can craft a simple Fishing Rod, resources needed and how to get them.
Main Questline Progression Requirement

You need to reach Foothills biome by progressing the main questline to unlock new resources that cannot be found in Coastal Jungle biome, mainly iron and hardwood. Only then can you obtain schematics for crafting a fishing rod.
Crafting Fishing Rod

Crafting a Fishing Rod requires 3 resources – hardwood, rope and iron ingot. Now you can easily obtain rope by crafting it using plant fibers. But you have to do some work to get the hardwood and iron.
Obtaining Hardwood

When you reach Foothills, look for big trees like the one shown in the above image. These are also called Divi-Divi trees, and they give hardwood when you chop them down. These trees can be found at high sea level in Foothills biome. When you obtain the hardwood or iron ingot, you’ll unlock new schematics which include a fishing rod.
Obtaining Iron Ingot

When you are in foothills, look for point of interest markers. Some of these markers are caves which have iron deposits. You can mine these iron ores using a pickaxe, these ores spawn overtime so you can sweep the entire cave before heading back to your camp.

Making iron ingots requires the same process used to make copper ingots. Create coal using the charcoal kiln and then use the coal and iron ore to make iron ingots through the smelting furnace.
With this you now have the required resources to craft a fishing rod, you can craft the fishing rod using the workshop at your camp.
This game doesn’t give you the fishing schematics much sooner, although it would’ve been fun. Make sure to follow us for future upcoming guides on Windrose. Happy Fishing!!!
