Farming in Windrose turns scavenging into steady supply, with a few Seedbeds and the right seeds, you can replace risky foraging runs with predictable harvests that fuel crafting, cooking and shipbuilding. This guide shows where to find fertile soil, how to set up efficient seedbeds and which crops you should prioritize early so your workshops never run dry.
How to get started with Farming
To get started with Farming in Windrose, you’d need to accomplish a few things first.

For starters, you’d have to progress to the next chapter in the main questline which is to travel to a new area called FootHills. You can get to FootHills after you’ve defeated the Thomas Richards Boss of the starting area, Coastal Jungle.
Finding Fertile Soil

Once you’re in the FootHills, explore the lands and look for ancient ruins. You can find the fertile soil lying around these ruins as shown in the above second picture. Collect as much fertile soil as possible and whenever you come across some.
Setting up Farms

Then navigate to the Farming section in the Building Panel and look for Seedbed. Make sure to place the seedbeds on a proper platform like shown in the second picture, because you don’t want the seedbeds getting covered with sand as you won’t be able to plant seeds if it’s covered in sand.
Gathering Resources for Farming

You need to gather seeds like the ones shown in the above picture. When you’ve collected a bunch of different seeds, you’ll unlock the saplings that can be planted on the seedbeds to grow crops.

Select your desired sapling and plant them on the seedbed. You can squeeze around 3 crops on the same row if done precisely. And it takes about ~70 in-game hours – give or take for the plants to grow fully.
Best Crop to Grow : Flax

The most practical crop that you should be growing as soon as you unlock farming is the Flax, which will get you the Flax Fiber, an important resource to craft Linen Fabric during the mid – late game.
Farming has been fun, I never realised it to be honest. Make sure to follow us for future upcoming guides on Windrose.
