Crimson Desert’s Goyen encounter is a brutal mirror duel that tests everything you’ve learned up to Chapter 9. Built around a moveset that mirrors Kliff’s own abilities, the fight punished mistakes with devastating, one hit-ish strikes – most notably a lethal jump slam that creates a wide shockwave. This guide breaks down Goyen’s attack patterns, phase triggers, and precise counterplay so you can parry, dodge and punish his openings without getting one shotted.
Essential Skills to Use During the Fight
Keep in mind, these skills are not only for this particular boss fight. These skills work against any boss and you must use these as much as you can during fights to stagger the boss quickly, counter their attacks and even dodge them.
Focus Skill

This is a no brainer, no matter which boss you are going up against or how powerful the boss is, you must use the Focus skill and BOOOMMMM!!!, somehow the tough boss doesn’t feel tough enough. That’s because this skill not only replenishes the spirit but also slows the time around you making it easy for you to anticipate enemy’s attacks and counter them or dodge them, this is a must have skill and most definitely be used during fights. I only wish that I knew this much sooner during my gameplay.
Force Palm Skill

This is another skill that you must use as much as possible during fights, as using Force Palm fills the boss’s stagger bar at a much quicker rate than attacking with weapons. Upgrade the Force Palm to its maximum level, which will give you the Force Palm Expertise that lets you use 3 consecutive Force Palms.
Largest Attack Window

When the boss’s stagger bar is full, he’s gonna collapse on the ground taking a breather and this is when you attack him. Unleash every attack that can deal as much damage as possible before the boss recovers.
Goyen’s Attack Patterns
Goyen’s attack patterns are very simple and easy to anticipate, let’s take a look at them.
Arrow Shot

Sometimes, Goyen uses this arrow shot when you’ve put some distance between you and him, you can dodge this, it’s pretty easy – just wait for him to launch the arrow and dodge it or you can keep dodge continuously until he shoots.
Sword Moves

Normally you can counter his sweeps if you time them correctly, but there’s also an advanced sweep attack that he performs where even if you counter his attacks, he continues attacking relentlessly, so I prefer dodging him. And there’s like a white trail on his sword when he uses the advanced sweep attack.

Another sword move that he does is as shown in the above image, which is followed by 2 consecutive powerful slashes that have a long range and massive damage, dodge them completely.
Goyen’s Ultimate

I would call this move his ultimate, because it will kill you in an instant and has a massive area of damage which is followed by a powerful kick. He initiates the ultimate which looks like he’s gathering the spirit around him and then he jumps high into the air and Groundslams which has a massive damage and then he chains up this attack with a Flying Kick, which you can observe and learn if you don’t have the skill already in your skill-set.

Watch out for his attack patterns and always use Focus and Force Palm ability to have an upperhand during fights and with a few tries, you can defeat Goyen.
Fated Shadow Weapon

After defeating Goyen, head to the path as shown in the above image and you’ll reach a room.

You can find the Fated Shadow which is a powerful one-handed weapon and will be a great addition to your armory.
