Dream in Flames is a quest in Where Winds Meet that takes you back into the memories tied to Yi Dao and the fall of Blissful Retreat. It’s a mix of exploration, quiet moments, and a boss fight, all set in the Qinghe region. This guide will tell you how to unlock the quest and complete every step and get all the rewards at the end.
How to Start the Dream in Flames Quest
To unlock Dream in Flames: Touch Yi Dao’s Sword, you first need to finish Chapter 1 – Heaven Has No Pier. Once that chapter is complete, the Dream in Flames event becomes available. After the Blissful Retreat area is destroyed, open your map and look for the Yi Dao World Boss icon in the Qinghe region. Head to that spot and you’ll find Yi Dao’s sword embedded in the ground, right next to a tree near Sweetwine Tower. Interact with the sword, and doing this will instantly transport you to an alternate version of Blissful Retreat, starting the Dream in Flames sequence.
Dream in Flames Quest Guide
You start out in a peaceful bamboo grove. From there, follow the path going uphill toward the slopes, where you’ll see Buddha statues and clouds drifting along the sides. Keep climbing and you’ll soon reach floating platforms connected by wooden ramps. Just keep moving upward through these misty terraces.
At the very end of the path, you’ll come across a small hut. Standing outside is the Mysterious Senior, and he will challenge you to a fight. Don’t worry about winning here, just focus on parrying and blocking until the scene moves forward. After a brief exchange, he’ll overpower you and walk away. Once you get back on your feet, follow him through the rocky passage to continue.
Meeting Uncle Zhou
You’ll reach a field gate where Song Yi is waiting for you. From here, head toward Sweetwine Tower. Near the tower, you’ll meet Uncle Zhou, who mentions a drunk outsider hanging around and asks you to check on him. When you walk over and talk to the stranger, he drops the act and reveals who he really is Yi Dao. The conversation doesn’t last long because it immediately triggers the boss fight. Defeat Yi Dao to move forward.
After you defeat Yi Dao, he hands over a wine jar and quietly leaves. Take this jar back to Uncle Zhou. He’ll then ask you to carry it to a small stall across the stream. Do that, and return to Uncle Zhou once more.
Lighting Fireworks
This time, he sends you to the lakeside festival area. When you arrive, you’ll see two villagers slowly striking pots in a steady rhythm. Watch the screen carefully and press the buttons when the prompts appear to complete the final strike. Doing this sets off the fireworks and completes the ceremony.
After a short closing scene, you’ll wake up back at the ruins. That’s where the Dream in Flames quest officially comes to an end.
