If you’re exploring Iki Island in Ghost of Tsushima, you’ll come across some hidden side stories called unwritten tales. Unlike regular tales, these don’t show up on your map or in Jin’s journal, which makes them easy to overlook. There are six unwritten tales on the island, but only five are needed to unlock the bronze trophy Common Courtesy. This guide will show you where to find each unwritten tale and what you need to do to complete them.
All Ghost Of Tsushima Unwritten Tales
On Iki Island, there are a few special side stories called unwritten tales. These don’t show up on your map or in Jin’s journal. Instead, they’re tracked in the collections menu under “Common Courtesy.” There are six of these tales in total, but only five of them count toward the bronze trophy Common Courtesy. (After patch 2.10 on September 16, 2021, you no longer need all six for the trophy.)
Bury the ship captain

When you head to the northern beach of Iki Island, near the spot where Jin’s ship first crashed, you’ll come across the body of the captain who brought him there. Sadly, he didn’t survive the wreck and washed up on shore. Jin takes a moment to honour him by giving him a proper burial.
Defend the beekeeper

Over in the western part of Iki Island, in an area called “Old Gambler’s Wood,” Jin meets a beekeeper named Hachibee outside his home. Hachibee has been selling honey to local healers, but the Mongols have found out and are on their way to destroy his home and beehives. While Hachibee hides inside, Jin takes on the attackers. Once the last of the Mongols are defeated, Hachibee steps back outside and thanks Jin for saving him and his bees.
Help Kodama

At the burned-down house, interact with the banner to trigger a cutscene. A woman named Kodama appears and speaks to Jin, then leads him toward a path heading uphill, marked by purple-leafed trees. As Jin follows through the misty forest, he encounters and defeats a group of Mongols. After the fight, he hears Kodama’s voice commenting on his actions, but she’s nowhere to be seen.
Jin calls out, hoping he’s managed to protect the land better than he did in his youth, but Kodama has vanished. When he returns to the ruins, he notices a scroll placed on a nearby rock, addressed to him. The message reads: “If man is to heal, so must the land.”
Raider’s Memorial Archery Challenge

First, make sure you’ve completed at least one Archery Challenge. After that, Jin will come across a memorial dedicated to the raiders who were killed long ago by Tadayori Nagao, a legendary samurai archer, during the battle at Azamo Bay. The memorial’s caretaker speaks bitterly of Tadayori, calling him a demon. Jin defends Tadayori, saying he was only protecting his home from invaders.

When Jin puts on Tadayori’s armor, the caretaker is horrified. Jin insists that Tadayori was no monster, and even claims his own archery skills rival the legend’s. The caretaker challenges him to prove it by shooting all seven lanterns around the memorial in quick succession. Once Jin does this, the man, shaken, begs for mercy from the “spirit of Tadayori.” Jin spares him but warns him never to dishonour Tadayori’s name again. The caretaker agrees and rewards Jin with a charm.
Save the peasants

At Buddha’s Footprints in the southern part of Iki Island, you’ll come across Mongols trying to drown peasants in the lake. Take out all of the enemies, and once they’re defeated, a cutscene will play where Jin rescues the peasants.
