Don’t Look Back in Anger Sidequest Guide – Dying Light: The Beast

“Don’t Look Back In Anger” is a side mission in Dying Light: The Beast. In this quest, you have to collect a few items. After that, you will enter the Starchild’s Oasis and fight a monster from your past. In this guide, we will explain each step in a simple way so you can complete the quest without any trouble.

Don’t Look Back In Anger Sidequest

In “Don’t Look Back In Anger” side quest, you need to collect bark from the Tree of Madness and a gallbladder from an abandoned house. After gathering the items, you enter Starchild’s Oasis, face a memory-based boss, and complete the quest for XP and rewards.

    Finding the Tree of Madness

To get the bark, head to the park shown by the quest marker. When you open your map, look for the words “Golden Pine.” The Tree of Madness is sitting right on the letter “D” in that name. Once you get close to it, the tree will automatically be highlighted, so it’s easy to find. Collect the bark, then either find a new car nearby or return to the one you used earlier. You will need to drive to your next destination.

    Entering the Abandoned House

Your next stop is the swamp forest, where you will find an abandoned house. From the quest marker, drive west along the narrow road, and you will soon spot the house. To get inside, go around to the back of the building and climb up the ladder. On the roof, there’s a hole you can drop through to get inside. Once you’re in, look for a second hole in the floor and jump down again.

You will see a gap in the wall, move through it and continue deeper into the house. Eventually, you will need to pass through a narrow crack in the wall. In the next room, you will be attacked by four Biters. Defeat them and loot their bodies to get the gallbladder.

    Discovering Starchild’s Oasis

Once you have gathered both items, head toward the hills nearby. You will find a path leading between two hills; this is the entrance to Starchild’s Oasis. Eventually, you will drink a strange potion. Now, you will be pulled into a surreal sequence where you must face your character’s trauma.

    Facing Your Past

You will wake up in a lab cell. Exit the cell and follow the hallway until it ends. Soon after, you will find yourself in an arena-like space where a creature called the Spitter appears. Don’t waste time chasing it; it’s invincible at first.

Instead, focus on defeating the Runners that spawn. Each time you kill them, your Beast Gauge will fill up. When the gauge is full, activate Beast Mode. This will finally reveal the Spitter’s health bar, and you will be able to attack it properly. Use your powers quickly to bring it down.

    Rewards

Once the fight ends, the cutscene will begin. After that, the quest ends. As a reward, you will receive two Intermediate Manual Pages, 10,000 XP, and if you were playing in co-op mode, you will also get a co-op Lootbox.
