In Hell Is Us, the Well-Read trophy is a gold trophy you earn by researching all 45 different research items scattered throughout the game. To unlock it, you first need to collect the six bronze trophies for completing each category of research. These items can be found in a variety of locations, from hidden chests and bodies to special rooms and Timeloop areas. This is a complete guide to the location of every research item, written in a simple, easy-to-follow way so you can find them all and earn the trophy.
All Research Item Locations for Well-Read Trophy
The Well-Read trophy is a gold trophy you earn by researching all 45 different research items in the game. You will receive it after collecting the other six bronze trophies, which are awarded for completing each individual category of research.
1. Ancient Censer
You can find the object by looking between the tent and the truck, across from the man who is playing the violin.
2. Bronze Eye
From where you grabbed the last item, head a little east and then go south across the wooden bridge. Follow the path, passing the soldiers standing by the doorway. At the end of the path, check near the fence on the right and you’ll find the research item there.
3. Clay Vase
Go through the tunnel, and once you’re in the church room, turn right straight away into the side room. Inside, open the chest to grab the research item.
4. Pottery Fragment
Go back outside the building and look for the blue automobile in the east corner. To obtain the Baseball Cap Ecstasy and the Pottery Fragment (Research Item), open the trunk.
5. Scorched Bell
Head through the gate and keep to the left side. Before long, you will come across some stone ruins. Check the doorway on the left, and inside you will find a chest with the item you’re looking for.
6. Terracotta Oil Lamp
Once you close the Timeloop, you will find two items to collect. On the left is the Golden Clover, which begins this mystery, and next to it is the Terracotta Oil Lamp (Research Item).
7. Ancient Scroll
In the Timeloop room, you will find three things to collect: the Drone Module: Rearguard, General Firion’s Journal, and the research item.
8. Bowl Of Ash
Go into the room and defeat the enemy to clear the Timeloop Guardian, which wasn’t accessible on your first visit. Once it’s safe, you can pick up three items inside: the Twin Axes of Rage, and the research item.
9. Faded Blueprints
Once you open the door and step into the room, you will find two items waiting inside: the Brooch of Ecstasy – Delectable Recovery (Defensive Gear) and the Faded Blueprints (Research Item). Pick them both up to add them to your collection.
10. Gold Medallion
Walk along the path for a bit until you’re right beside the river on your right. Once you reach that spot, turn around and follow the river upstream. Keep going until you reach the waterfall, and you will find the Research Item sitting on the statue there.
11. Lymbic Core
Return to the forest path, crossing the bridge on the left and climbing the steps this time. Turn northeast to find a lone Hollow standing close to a cliff after heading northwest toward the enemy. Drop onto the ledge directly below and look down. The Lymbic Core (Research Item) is located at the end of the tunnel.
12. Marked Map Of Hadea
Go back up the stairs, then take the set on the right to reach the next level. At the front of the room, step on plate D4, then quickly run back and pull the Fire lever. This will unlock the room at the top of the central stairs, where you can grab the item.
13. Old Sketchbook
Clear out the enemy in the room, then head to the back left corner. There, you can pick up the Old Sketchbook (Research Item).
14. Wooden Horse Figurine
Take out the enemies in the room to clear the Timeloop Guardian. Once that’s done, head to the right side of the room where you can pick up the Research Item.
15. Wooden Mask
Approach the entry gate with your back to the building. You’ll notice a safe atop a garbage can there. To unlock it and receive the Wooden Mask (Research Item) and the Amine Prism-Rho, enter the code 81643.
16. Bronze Figurine
Once the Timeloop is closed, check the ground near the bodies you will find the item there.
17. Children’s Book
Turn right when you see the lights after taking the alternate route through the tunnel. (The gate by the home where you discovered the fuses is also connected to this walkway; however, it can only be opened with the key from the opposite side.) Continue until you encounter the cave’s next adversary. The Research Item is located by the ledge on the side path to the left.
18. Crown Of Bones
Across from where you entered the Timeloop, there’s a building with doors you can open to get inside (it’s also the way out of the area). Go upstairs to the balcony, and you will find the item there.
19. Faded Parchment
From the top, turn left at the save point and head into the side rooms. In the eastern room, check the shelf full of scrolls on the right and you’ll find the item there.
20. Jewelled Dagger
Stay on the path, but instead of taking the ramp up to the elevator, head right to find a ladder leading to an upper platform. From there, drop down onto the middle platform, and you will see the item sitting on a barrel.
21. Rusted Gauntlet
Head to the northeast part of the area, where you will see a hole in the wooden floor you can drop through. Climb up the ladder inside, then drop down onto the wooden platform halfway up. There, you will find the item along with some consumables inside a chest.
22. Skull In Box
Inside the room, you will find three things to pick up: Lady Sophia’s Journal – Francis, Francis’ Journal Queen’s Envoy, and the research item.
23. Ceremonial Key
Return to the room with the Hollow statues and look for the doorway on the south side. Use the Symbol Iron Crown to unlock it. Inside, you can collect three items, including the research item.
24. Bronze Cup
Once you’ve closed the Timeloop, check the table you will find the item there.
25. Flower Medallion
Look to the southwest and take the path that goes uphill and curves left past some ruins. Keep following it all the way to the end, where you will find another set of ruins with some enemies around. Inside, use the Rusted Key on the chest to get a Lymbic Polearm and the Flower Medallion (Research Item).
26. Syringe
Starting from the APC, head to the right and walk along the wooden fence. Keep following it until you reach a body, where you can pick up the item.
27. Worn Journal
Keep heading east around the two houses until you see a ramp in front of the second one. The ramp leads to a ladder (and there’s also a gate you can open back to the street). Climb the ladder, then check the drawer at the top to pick up the item along with Agatha’s Journal.
28. Wrapped Candle
Go into the room and grab the three items inside. Doing so will give you the Letter – Proud Father, a Lymbic Greatsword, the Wrapped Candle (Research Item), and a Brooch.
29. Citizen’s File
Keep heading north along the road until you pass the intersection and reach the house. Check the covered garage there, and you will find the research item inside.
30. Cufflinks
Check under the table behind the woman, and you will find the Research Item there.
31. High-Tech Case
Keep following the path past the cave, and you will come across the body of a man in a suit. You can pick up the item from him there.
32. Pocket Watch
From the man with the lantern, head south and go down the stairs. At the bottom, check the bench—you will find the item there.
33. Polaroid
Make your way to the computer room by climbing the stairs and following the corridor. You can pick up the research object by going inside.
34. Vial Of Strange Substance
When you get to the camp, interact with the three marked spots. Doing so will give you an OMSIF Medkit, a Vial of Strange Substance, and the OMSIF Report – Field Research.
35. Box Of Bullets
There is a body with the research item on it when you enter the room’s middle vault.
36. 9mm Pistol
Check the tables behind the notice board you will find the research item there, along with the Note – Conspiracy.
37. Ballot
Follow the tracks all the way to the end, then turn left onto the path between the two houses. From there, look to the right and down the stairs you will see the item on a body.
38. Box Of Bronze Acorns
Enter the space where a man is standing directly beneath the excavator’s bucket on the right. Once you’re facing slightly left of the excavator, turn around. There is an interact point; use it to retrieve the Bronze Acorn Box.
39. Burnt Notes
Go upstairs and into the first room, where you will see a man dead on the desk with white phones on it. Just below the phones, you can pick up the item. It’s a plastic bag containing the partially burned remains of several sheets of paper.
40. Marked Door Polaroid
Head west to the mausoleum building and go down the stairs. You will come across a Timeloop Guardian there. On the left wall, you can grab the research item.
41. Memorial Ribbon
Head north along the road past Panthem Abbey. You will see a sign and a man out front you can check them out, but nothing happens there yet. Keep going until you reach the broken bridge. Drop down underneath the farther part of the bridge, and you will find the item on a body. It’s a plain purple ribbon decorated with Palomist symbols.
42. Pamphlet
From the entrance of the town hall, head south and go into the stone-walled area on the left, near the burned house. In the corner, you will find a body with the item on it. It’s a pamphlet that announces the cancellation of two upcoming celebrations.
43. Prison Manifest
Climb up to the roof of the building near the town entrance and walk across to the other side. Use the Jova Office Key to unlock the door there. Inside the room, you can pick up the Prison Manifest (Research Item). It’s a page that lists many prisoners from a labor camp.
44. Provicional Border Map
Enter the room with the map projected on the wall, then check behind the desk on the right you will find the item there. It’s a map from the Ministry of Ethnic Management that shows the new borders of Hadea’s provinces.
45. Hadean Border Map
Go inside the building and turn left right away toward the stack of boxes. On the wooden box sitting on the cart, you will find the research item. It’s a map that shows the planned construction projects along Hadea’s border.
