If you didn’t choose the Trooper as your starting class, no problems! It can be unlocked later in the game. You just have to complete a specific quest called Proving Grounds. Here is a step-by-step breakdown on how to complete it:
Step 1: Go to Griffin’s Reach
- Open your map and look for Griffin’s Reach Tradepost in the Hagga Basin South area.
- Inside the Tradepost, find Ghavouri hanging around one of the corners.
- Once you talk to Ghavouri, he’ll hand you a job to hunt down some of his enemies scattered around the desert.
- Just take the contract to kick off the mission and get started on your journey.
Note: Some of the enemies you’ll run into are rigged with explosives and go out with a bang when they’re taken down. So when you finish them off, don’t stick around—get clear right away!
Step 2: The Targets (in order)
1. Aatu Golven
- Location: Kaleff’s Stand (far east of Hagga Basin South)
- Tip: The guy’s alone in a cave, nothing fancy; he has no special moves, no adds; an easy takedown.
- Pro tip: Bring a Sandbike, if you have one; it’s quite a ride.
2. Kirsi Tol
- Location: Shamal Tunnel (east of where you found Aatu)
- Another solo target; eliminate and move on.
3. Cardanus Ulun
- Location: Edgeway Cavern, just south of Kirsi’s.
- Warning: This one’s a bit tougher. The cave is larger and harbors enemies. Bring your backup or gear accordingly.
Final Step: Return to Ghavouri
Go have a chat with Ghavouri at Griffin’s Reach Tradepost and let him know you’ve wrapped up his job. In return, he’ll start training you as a Trooper. Once that’s done, you’ll unlock the Trooper Skill Tree.
