Knowing how your item pouch functions and being able to quickly remedy this situation is crucial to any budding hunter. ‘Your item pouch is full’ Warning in Monster Hunter Wilds
Your item pouch is where all the stuff you pick up gets stored including all your consumables. As you collect items, they either stack with what you already have or take up a new slot. These slots match the item bar in the lower right corner of your screen. To use an item, hold L1/LB to open the bar, scroll through with square/X and circle/B, and press square/X to equip and use it.
The pouch has 25 slots total, but 9 are always reserved for essential gear like your portable BBQ grill, fishing rod, binoculars, capture net, throwing knife, paint pod, and ghillie mantle so you can’t remove those. The rest of the slots are for things you pick up, like potions, rations, herbs, and mushrooms.
Once all 25 slots are full, you’ll see a “your item pouch is full” warning when you try to pick up something new that doesn’t fit into an existing stack. It just means there’s no room for extra items until you make some space!
‘Your item pouch is full’ Warning Solution in Monster Hunter Wilds
When you see the “your item pouch is full” warning, it’s usually at the worst possible time and digging through menus is probably the last thing you want to do.
The quickest way to deal with it is to automatically send whatever you picked up to your field pouch by pressing:
X/A > Circle/B > X/A.
This dismisses the warning, moves the item to your field pouch, and confirms that’s what you want to do. It’s not a perfect solution, but it’s fast once you get the hang of it. If you want to be more hands-on, you can also shuffle things around manually find something in your item pouch to move into your field pouch, freeing up a slot for the new item.
The best way to avoid this problem in the first place is to keep extra space in your item pouch. You can manage this back at your tent:
Items Menu > Transfer Items > Item Pouch.
In this menu, your item pouch is at the top, and your item box is at the bottom. Your Essential Items the ones you have permanently, like the BBQ grill and fishing rod are lined up on the left and right and can’t be removed.
From here, you can:
- Add or remove items from your item box.
- Rearrange your item pouch, which also changes the order of your item bar (in the bottom right of your screen).
- Clear out anything you don’t need, keeping your pouch light and ready for new finds.
A little prep goes a long way, so keeping some empty slots will save you from scrambling mid-hunt!
