Sinister Cloth is a premium item in Monster Hunter Wilds that can be obtained in a variety of ways by players and that presents both an opportunity and a challenge for judicious resource management. Whether dealing with the Kilama villagers in the Windward Plains, pursuing Gawdygog in the Scarlet Forest, or visiting with Murtabak, material gatherer for the village, gaining Sinister Cloth takes a combination of planning and patience. In this tutorial, we’ll guide you on the best methods to farm this highly sought-after item so that you’re ready for whatever comes your way in the game.
How to Farm Sinister Cloth
Sinister Cloth is a rare resource in Monster Hunter Wilds that you won’t come across in the usual ways, it’s more about luck than anything else. However, there are ways to improve your chances and make the search a bit easier. Here’s what you need to know about finding Sinister Cloth and the best methods for farming it efficiently.
Trading with the Kilama villagers
In Monster Hunter Wilds, Sinister Cloth can be obtained through trading with the Kilama villagers, who are located in the Windward Plains region. These villagers are your primary source for purchasing this item while exploring the game.
Trading with the Gawdygog
Alternatively, you may also find Sinister Cloth in Gawdygog’s trading selection, a Wudwud character found in the Scarlet Forest. However, unlike the Kilama villagers, Gawdygog’s offerings aren’t as predictable, and it’s not guaranteed that Sinister Cloth will be available at any given time.
The catch with Gawdygog is that he only accepts Ancient Wyvern Coins as payment. If you want to exchange your coins for Sinister Cloth from him, you’ll need to hunt down and collect these specific coins throughout your journey.
So, if you’re looking to gather Sinister Cloth, your best bet is to visit the Kilama villagers regularly. If you’re feeling lucky, check in with Gawdygog in the Scarlet Forest, but be prepared to trade Ancient Wyvern Coins if you want to make a deal.
Trading with the Murtabak
You can also get Sinister Cloth through Murtabak, who is the village gatherer of materials. It is a random reward, though, so there are no guarantees you’ll get it each time. Murtabak only rewards you one Sinister Cloth at a time, but it’s still a possibility to take advantage of on your playthrough.
Once you complete the game, Nata becomes the go-between for all the villages in Monster Hunter Wilds. You can talk to him to check what Kilama has for sale, though keep in mind that the items available from each village are random. Sinister Cloth won’t always be available, and you may need to return to Nata several times to see if Kilama is offering it.
If you don’t want to wait, you can also rest in your tent to reset the environment and time of day, which might give you another chance to find Sinister Cloth. It it might not be worth spending guild points on a random chance. It’s better to check in with Nata after completing hunts to see what’s available from all the villagers at different times. When you do find Sinister Cloth available from Kilama, be prepared to trade it for Great Windward Aloe.
How to farm Great Windward Aloe
Great Windward Aloe is a rare resource that can be found in the Windward Plains, but it has a more frequent drop than its map counterpart. To gather it, though, you’ll need to wait for the right conditions. First, change the time of day and take a rest. Then, set the environment to the Plenty season and pick any time of day. From there, check your forecast for the day to see if there’s a Great Windward Aloe upsurge. This is the best method for consistently collecting this resource without scrolling through the entire Windward Plains map. Be sure you’re looking for a Great Windward Aloe emergence, not just a regular Windward Aloe one.
You might have to wait for the Great Windward Aloe emergence to happen in your region. If it’s scheduled for a later time, like ours was, don’t take a rest right away. Instead, hunt monsters or explore the area until the emergence aligns with your schedule. Using the rest option resets the environment, which allows you to take advantage of the emergence. While this won’t directly get you Sinister Cloth, it will set you up for future trades in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Keep checking back with the village traders to see if Sinister Cloth is available for trade. The offers from these traders are always changing, so staying on top of them is key to getting what you need when the time comes.
