The Frogs side quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a mischievous mission given by Old Olbram in the village of Zhelejov. Frustrated with the neighboring town of Tachov, Olbram wants to stir up trouble by having you steal their maypole and bring it back to Zhelejov. However, this task requires stealth and strategy, as getting caught or resorting to violence will fail the quest. This guide walks you through the entire quest, from stealing the Maypole wreath to causing more trouble with Tachov’s sheep and laundry, as well as how it connects to the Battle of the Frogs and Mice side quest.
Frogs Side Quest in KCD2
To meet Old Olbram, visit Zhelejov, a village just west of Troskowitz. Old Olbram offers the Frogs side quest. Frustrated with the nearby town of Tachov, he asks you to cause some trouble by stealing their maypole from the village center and bringing it back to Zhelejov. To complete the task, you must be stealthy and avoid getting caught. Additionally, Olbram insists that no one gets hurt, if you resort to violence, the quest will fail the next time you speak with him.
Remember, if you start the Mice side quest in Tachov without finishing Frogs, or vice versa, the unfinished quest will automatically fail. To avoid this, complete one before taking on the other. Additionally, the Mice quest will become unavailable if you’re caught causing trouble during Frogs. If you ever want to back out, you can inform innkeeper Prochek in Tachov about Old Olbram’s plans to cancel the Frogs quest entirely.
Finding the Maypole & Talking to Henik

You can talk to Olbram for more details about the situation or head straight to Tachov. Once there, you’ll find the maypole on the village’s eastern side. At night, Henik stands guard beneath it, clearly unhappy about his task. When you strike up a conversation and ask how he’s doing, he’ll hint at a more significant issue but stop short of revealing it. If you want to press him for more information, you can use a Speech skill check – if your level is high enough, you’ll succeed. However, you also have the option to let it go and not push further.
Helping Henik Meet Manka
Henik eventually confesses that he’s secretly dating a local girl named Manka, but her parents disapprove, so they rarely get to see each other. Henry suggests that while Henik is supposed to guard the maypole, he could sneak away to meet Manka instead. Henik agrees but asks Henry to speak to Manka first. The following day (after 9 AM), find Manka at the inn and explain the plan—she’ll agree to meet Henik in the evening. To pass the time, sleep until late evening or night, then return to Henik at the maypole and let him know everything is set.
Stealing the Maypole Wreath
With Henik gone, the maypole is left unguarded, allowing you to climb it and remove the wreath at the top. Be sure to wait until Henik is out of sight and put away your torch, as climbing too soon or having a light source will get you caught. Once the wreath falls, pick it up from the ground and return to Olbram, who will reward you with 45 Groschen.
At this point, you can either end the quest or accept his subsequent request for more mischief. If you continue, he’ll ask you to release some of Tachov’s sheep from their pen and soil their laundry. This part of the quest is much riskier, and since dirtying the laundry is especially difficult without being spotted, it’s best to focus on freeing the sheep instead.
Freeing the Sheep
Head to Tachov and wait until night or early morning, ideally around 6 AM. Then, go to the sheep pen west of the village and chase at least six sheep into the bushes southwest of the pen to complete the objective. Make sure to finish before Prochek’s son arrives at around 9 AM, but if you run out of time, you can try again the next day.
Soiling the Laundry
If you also want to soil the laundry, wait until midday when the women hang their clothes to dry east of the sheep pen. You can then drive the sheep over the washing, though this carries a high risk of being recognized and reported to the bailiff.
Once you’ve completed the tasks, return to Olbram, who will reward you with another 45 Groschen and mention an upcoming meeting between the villagers of Tachov and Zhelejov over their pasture dispute. You can join him by asking for more details unlocking the Battle of the Frogs and Mice side quest. However, if you haven’t completed the Mice side quest, do so first, as it will become unavailable once you start Battle of the Frogs and Mice.
