How to Get Decorations in Monster Hunter Wilds
You’ll get your first Decorations after defeating The Black Flame in Chapter 2-4. At first, they’ll show up as Mystery Orbs at the end of your hunt, which are then automatically appraised and turned into a random set of Decorations.
There are two types of orbs:
- Sword Orbs: for weapon slots
- Armor Orbs: for armor slots
Both come in three rarities:
- Mystery Orb (Level 1)
- Glowing Orb (Level 2)
- Ancient Orb (Level 3)
Early on, you’ll only get Decorations from hunts, but as you progress, there are three ways to farm them:
- Quest rewards from hunts
- The Melding Pot in Suja
- Bonus rewards from High Rank investigations
The most efficient way to farm Decorations is by focusing on High Rank investigations. Once monsters start appearing on the map with bonus rewards, you can select one, hit Create Quest, and spend Guild Points to save it as an investigation. Each investigation lets you hunt the monster up to three times, with a chance to earn high-rarity orbs as part of the bonus rewards for completing each run.

To equip and use Decorations, just head to the Change Equipment menu either from your tent or by visiting the Smithy. Keep in mind, though, that your armor needs the right slots for the Decorations you want to use. Some pieces start with Level 1 slots, but as you progress, you’ll be able to craft armor with higher-level slots, like Level 2 and beyond.

Farming for Decorations can be a bit of a grind, but actually slotting them into your gear is quick and easy:
- Head to Gemma at the Smithy or use the tent at any Base Camp or Pop-up Camp.
- Open the Equipment Menu and select Change Equipment.
- On a controller, press right on the d-pad to bring up the Decorations menu.
