How to Upgrade Weapons At Camp in Clair Obscur Expedition 33

If you want to make your weapons stronger in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 upgrading your gear is key to surviving tougher fights, and you can do that right at your Camp once you’ve progressed a bit in the story. This guide will walk you through how to unlock weapon upgrades and how to use Chroma Catalysts to level-up your weapons all the way up to Level 9.

How To Unlock Upgrading Weapons At Camp

You’ll first come across The Curator while exploring The Manor in the Flying Waters area during your search for Maelle. But you won’t be able to use their services right away. It’s only after you defeat the Goblu boss at the end of Flying Waters and return to Camp that The Curator becomes available. That’s when you can finally talk to them and start using your Chroma Catalysts to upgrade your weapons.

How To Upgrade Weapons At Camp

When you’re back at Camp, head toward the cliff and look to the left, you’ll see the entrance to a cave. You can also walk right up to the cliff’s edge and follow the path around to the left to find another way in. Inside, you’ll find The Curator. Talk to them and choose [Upgrade Weapon].

You can upgrade your weapons from Level 1 to Level 3 using Chroma Catalysts. It takes one catalyst to reach Level 2, and two more to get to Level 3. Each upgrade boosts your weapon’s Attack Power and improves how much extra damage it deals based on your combat skill levels. Once your weapon hits Level 3, you’ll need rarer materials to keep upgrading it further.

You can get Chroma Catalysts by defeating enemies, picking them up as loot, or buying them from certain shops. You’ll need these catalysts to upgrade your weapons with The Curator at Camp. Regular Chroma Catalysts are used to upgrade weapons up to Level 3. For upgrades beyond that up to Level 9 you’ll need Polished Chroma Catalysts instead. You can find both types the same way, so just keep exploring and fighting to collect them.
