In Gothic 1 Remake the climbing skill isn’t earned by leveling, it’s taught by a specific trainer in the Swamp Camp and requires 6 northern dark herb rolls and 5 LP. This skill lets you reach hidden ledges, bypassing dangerous paths and collecting high tier loot. This guide shows exactly where to find the trainer and where to get the northern dark rolls to unlock climbing so you can start scaling unreachable areas.
Obtaining Northern Dark Herb Rolls
In Swamp Camp look for the trader Fortuno, you’ll find him below Cor Kalom’s laboratory. You can get 3 northern dark herb rolls everyday and if you need more you can buy them through ore nuggets. We are going to need 6 Northern Dark herb rolls, so you can either gather the rolls for 2 days or buy 3 rolls in addition to daily allocation.
Theron Location
From the Swamp Camp’s Temple, head right towards the beach until you can see a cliff as shown in the above pictures.
You can find Theron sitting on the beach, speak with him and exhaust his dialog options and you’ll learn about the beach being his one of two favourite spots to take a break. Then you’ll unlock a new dialog option “What’s the first best place?”, upon selecting the dialog option he will tell you about the location and it requires climbing skills which he can teach you but for a price.
Unlocking Climbing Skills
Hand over the 6 Northern Dark herb rolls to Theron to unlock the skill learning option, then select the “Teach me how to climb option” to start your training and it will cost you 5 LP.
After you’ve finished your training, follow Theron by climbing the wall to reach his no.1 spot to relax. Upon reaching the spot he gives you back 3 northern dark herb rolls. This marks the end of the side quest and you now have unlocked climbing skills.
