Joining the Mages Guild in Oblivion Remastered gives you access to the Arcane University. The process begins right after you escape the sewers. From there, you can fast travel to various cities across Cyrodiil. Most of which host their own local Mage’s Guild chapter. Each city has its own leader, and once you’re a member, you will need to complete a recommendation quest from each to unlock access to the Arcane University.
How to Join the Mages Guild
Make your way out of the sewers then open the map from your Journal. This will show you all the cities you can fast travel to. Most of these cities have their own Mage’s Guild, with the exception of the Imperial City, which has the Arcane University.
Choose any city and fast travel there. Once you arrive, speak to a nearby guard. The guard will point you toward the Mage’s Guild. It’s best to visit during the day, preferably after 8:00 AM, since the guild members might be asleep at night.
When you enter the Mage’s Guild, you can speak directly with the Guild Master and join right away. Here’s each city and its Mage’s Guild leader:
- Anvil – the Mage’s Guild is led by Carahil.
- Bravil – you’ll find Kud-Ei as the Mage’s Guild leader.
- Bruma – the guild is headed by Jeanne Frasoric.
- Cheydinhal – Falcar serves as the Mage’s Guild leader.
- Chorrol – the guild is led by Teekeeus.
- Leyawiin – Dagail is in charge of the Mage’s Guild.
- Skingrad – the leader of the guild is Adrienne Berene.
To earn your place at the Arcane University, you will need to complete recommendation quests. Each city’s Mage’s Guild offers its own recommendation quest, and you will need to complete all seven to move forward.
Once you are part of the guild, you will be given a Mage’s Guild Key. This gives you access to both the Library and Living Quarters in any of the guilds across the cities. The Living Quarters are useful because they provide a bed where you can rest and level up your character’s attributes. Another perk of the Mage’s Guild is that you’re free to take any items inside – books, crystal balls, and other objects, which you can then sell to guild NPCs for some extra Gold.
