The Elegance social attribute is essential in Where Winds Meet, but the developers do not provide much information regarding how to obtain it. Rather than completing quests or defeating enemies in the game, players earn Elegance through various minor interactions within the game world, many of which are missed by players. This guide breaks down the two reliable ways to earn Elegance, where to find them, and what this attribute actually affects.
Using Food Stalls to Increase Elegance
Through the Gourmet Challenge, vendors create an opportunity to boost Elegance through food stalls. Vendors are located in various areas, and the purchase of a dish from a vendor contributes to developing the attribute. Although the food purchased using Commerce Coins is costly, it directly contributes to boosting Elegance; therefore, it is a worthwhile exchange.
Stalls can typically be found in Market areas, around Boundaries, and/or on Main Roads. After trying every regional dish, you unlock Gourmet rewards. These rewards will give you more Elegance and a significant amount of Exploration progress for each region you sample.
Petting Cats for Elegance
You will find Cat’s living in cities and towns and by interacting with a Cat you earn Elegance reward. Often you will hear a Cat long before you see them, if you are in more quiet areas their meows can be heard from great distances.
For definitive cat sightings, visit the Meow Meow Temples in Kaifeng and Qinghe. These locations provide a straightforward way for players to find cats without the need for extensive searching. In addition to visiting temples, another great source of finding cats is to read player signposts near temples. Many players leave notes on the signposts that lead you toward cats they have already discovered.
When you approach a cat, press E and select Pet the Cat. Let the interaction finish naturally. Skipping it using the Spacebar prevents the Elegance point from registering, even though the animation plays.
What Elegance Actually Affects
Elegance is a social-focused Aspiration Attribute that improves charm-based abilities rather than brute force. It affects disguises, credibility checks, clothing bonuses, persuasion options, and Conviction actions used to pressure NPCs.
As Elegance increases, passive bonuses unlock and dialogue checks become more forgiving. Higher levels make it easier to steer AI conversations, extract information, secure favors, and convince NPCs to hand over valuables or sensitive details.
