How to Hire and Assign Workers in Schedule 1

Managing workers efficiently is crucial for keeping your operations running smoothly in Schedule 1. From hiring employees to assigning them tasks and ensuring they are paid on time, every step plays a role in maintaining productivity. Before you can recruit workers, you must complete a specific quest, after which you’ll gain access to a variety of roles like Chemists, Botanists, Cleaners, and Handlers. Assigning tasks properly and prioritizing essential roles will help streamline workflow and prevent unnecessary expenses. This guide will walk you through the entire process, offering useful tips to maximize efficiency and keep your workforce performing at its best.

How to Hire in Schedule 1

Before you can start hiring workers in Schedule 1, you need to complete the “Wretched Hive of Scum and Villainy” quest. This quest introduces you to the warehouse and, along the way, you’ll meet Manny, a fixer who plays a key role in the hiring process. Once you’ve completed the quest, Manny will grant you access to hire workers.

To recruit employees, visit Manny at the warehouse after 6 PM and select the “I want to hire employees” option. Keep in mind that each worker requires a one-time sign-on fee, followed by a daily wage. This means you’ll need to budget accordingly to ensure you can sustain your workforce over time.

Once hired, employees can be assigned to the warehouse or any other property you own in the game. Managing your workers effectively will help you streamline operations and maximize productivity, so choose your assignments wisely.

Below are all the workers in Schedule 1:

Botanist

For $200 per day, Botanists manage plant growth and ensure a steady supply of resources. To get them started, assign them a bed and connect them to a supply shelf stocked with seeds and soil. Each Botanist can oversee up to 8 grow pods, where you can select the seed type and any additives. When the plants are ready, you can either assign a destination rack for storage or let them decide where to place the finished product. They don’t require any additional tools, as they come equipped with clippers.

Cleaner

Cleaners play a vital role in keeping your workspace free of clutter. For $100 per day, they will automatically remove trash from assigned areas, making the environment more efficient and organized. To set up a Cleaner, assign them a bed and link them to nearby trash cans by clicking on them. Once assigned, they will take care of any trash within range.

Chemist

At $300 per day, Chemists are the highest-paid workers, but they are essential for production. After assigning them a bed, link them to chemistry sets and lab ovens. Each station requires a recipe and a destination, such as transferring materials from a chemistry set to an oven. Be sure to assign an output rack for the final product. If a Chemist suddenly stops working, it’s usually because their recipe has been reset, simply reassign it to get them back on track.

Handler

Handlers, costing $200 per day, are responsible for transporting products between storage and packaging stations. If you decide to hire one, assign them a bed and connect them to up to 3 packaging stations. You’ll need to set routes from storage racks to these stations, and optionally, create a second route from the packaging station to an output rack. However, since auto-packing machines can handle this process just as efficiently, hiring a Handler may not be necessary unless your operation is extremely busy.

How to Assign Works in Schedule 1

Once you’ve hired your first employee in Schedule 1, you’ll receive the Management Clipboard, which is essential for assigning tasks. To manage your workers, stand near them, press 9 on your keyboard, and then hit E to open the assignment menu. From there, you’ll need to provide each worker with a bed before setting them up with specific tasks.

How to Pay Workers in Schedule 1

To pay your workers, just interact with the briefcase at the end of their beds and deposit the required amount. It’s a good idea to pay them a few days in advance to reduce daily management and keep things running smoothly.

Tips

  • Each worker comes with a one-time hiring fee and a daily wage, so ensure you have enough funds to sustain them long-term. Running out of money can leave your workforce idle.
  • Focus on hiring Chemists, Botanists, and Cleaners first, as they directly impact production and maintenance. Handlers are useful, but an auto-packing machine can handle product movement instead.
  • Before setting up tasks, make sure each worker has a bed. Without one, they won’t function properly.
  • Assign Cleaners to trash cans to ensure they automatically dispose of waste, keeping your operation neat and efficient.
  • Assign Botanists to manage plant shelves, Chemists to lab stations, and Handlers (if needed) to packing stations. Make sure each station is correctly linked to storage areas.
  • If a Chemist or other worker stops working, open the Assignment Menu and reset their task or recipe to get them back on track.
  • Regularly check on your workers to ensure they are functioning correctly and making the best use of their assigned tasks. Adjust assignments as needed to maximize productivity.
