Tainted Bile is a rare crafting component used for making Ingot Arborum which is used for high tier plague weapon upgrades in Windrose. It only drops from Plague Crocodiles, which spawn at specific points of interest in the Cursed Swamp – notably Frescoed Ruins, the Sacrificial Altar and the Tainted Ruins. This guide covers reliable spawn spots and combat tips so you can spend less time wandering the muck and more time upgrading gear.
Cursed Swamps
To be able to obtain Tainted Bile, you need to progress the main questline to the Cursed Swamps biome, which can be done after you’ve defeated the Foothills Boss – Israel Hands.

Plague Crocodile Spawn Points
In the Cursed Swamps biome, you need to dive a bit deep into the swamps to find the Plague Crocodiles. They mostly spawn near points of interest – standing guard at places like Sacrificial Altar, Tainted Ruins and Frescoed Ruins – which you come across during the main questline progression. They can also be found on the final boss island where you face the biome’s local threat, High Priestess.

Combat Tips
These are similar to the crocodiles you face in the swamps if not a bit sturdy, they have the similar moveset as other crocodiles. You can counter their basic attack, but you need to watch out for the grab attack, where the crocodile grabs you and throws you like a toy. Upon killing the Plague Crocodile, you’ll obtain the Tainted Bile.
Tainted Bile can be used to make Ingot Arborum, which is used for weapon upgrades like the Plague Halberd – a powerful two handed strength weapon.
