How to Get Blightwood in Runescape: Dragonwilds

Blightwood is one of the valuable resources in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, especially if you’re looking to craft higher-tier tools like the Iron Pickaxe. But getting your hands on it isn’t exactly easy it involves the dangerous Bloodblight Swamp, managing poison effects, and making sure you’re properly equipped. Whether you’re a new player or just looking for a faster way to farm Blightwood, this guide will walk you through where to find it, how to survive the swamp, and what to do with the resource once you’ve got it.

How to get Blightwood

You can find Blightwood near the entrance to Bloodblight Swamp, located on the right side of Bramblemead Valley. It’s a good idea to place a Lodestone just outside the swamp’s entrance, this keeps you within the safer area of the Fractured Plains, avoiding the more dangerous conditions inside the swamp. Blightwood Roots tend to spawn right around this entry point.

Once you’ve set up your fast travel, your next step should be crafting a better axe specifically, the Bronze Axe. The basic Stone Axe won’t be strong enough, so you’ll need to gather Bronze Bars, Ash Logs, and Coarse Thread to craft it.

How to Use Blightwood

So far, the only confirmed use for Blightwood in RuneScape: Dragonwilds is to unlock the Iron Pickaxe recipe. While it’s mainly used alongside iron to craft the pickaxe, there may be other recipes involving Blightwood that haven’t been discovered yet.

How to Survive Bloodblight Swamp

Surviving Bloodblight Swamp in RuneScape’s Dragonwilds isn’t easy but with the right preperation, you can make it through without getting affected to the swamp’s poison effects. First and foremost, your survival depends on one thing: anti-poison potions. You’ll need to brew these yourself using clay vessels, so be prepared. Crafting these potions might sound tedious, but it’s absolutely essential for surviving the toxic bog.

Crafting Clay Vessels

To get started, gather some clay and craft clay vessels. You’ll need to use a pottery wheel to shape the clay into unfired vessels, then fire them in a kiln to make them usable. These vessels act as containers for brewing potions. Once you have a few ready, the next step is to collect the ingredients: Harlander and Bittercap mushrooms. Both can be found in and around the swamp area, so you don’t have to venture too far but be careful when gathering them, as the swamp is already a dangerous zone.

Brewing Anti-Poison Potions

You’ll also need a brewing cauldron to mix up the potions. Combine a clay vessel with Harlander and Bittercap mushrooms inside the cauldron, and you’ll get a weak anti-poison potion. These potions give you 300 seconds, five whole minutes of poison immunity, which is more than enough to get in, grab what you need, and get out as quickly as possible. Just make sure you’re not interrupted mid-brew, or you might waste resources.

Organizing Your Inventory

Before heading into the swamp, double-check your inventory. Keep things clean and only bring what’s necessary healing items, a few potions, maybe some gear for defense. You don’t want to be cluttering mid-fight or while you’re getting poisoned. Also, it’s smart to bind your potions to a hotkey or keep them in your quick slots, so you can use one the moment things get problematic.

Entering the Swamp and Engaging Enemies

When you make your way into the swamp, pop a potion just before entering the danger zone. Poison will start stacking quickly if you don’t, and enemies in the area can hit pretty hard. Don’t bother fighting every enemy unless you’re confident sometimes it’s better to just run through and get to where you need to be. As long as the potion is active, the swamp itself won’t be able to do much to you. Focus on staying mobile, grabbing loot, and avoiding unnecessary fights.

Making the Most of Your Time

If things go wary, don’t panic. You’ll still be immune to poison for the duration of the potion, so even if enemies decrease down your health, you have time to escape or heal. Bring a teleport or set your respawn point nearby just in case. With good planning, smart potion use, and a clear idea of your goals in the swamp, you’ll not only survive Bloodblight.
