Securing a personal home in New Camp gives you a bed to recover and a reliable place to stash loot while you chase quests. In the Gothic 1 Remake you can earn housing by completing a certain quest. In the mines you’ll come across a mercenary named Gorn, speak with him and you’ll learn that the houses in the mines belong to mercenaries and a house has been occupied by a bandit named Shrike. You need to defeat Shrike to evict the house and keep the hut for yourself in the New Camp. This guide will explain how to trigger the quest, where to find Shrike and how to get the house.
Finding Gorn
Navigate the mines and look for the npc Gorn shown in the above image. Speak with him and exhaust his dialog options and you’ll learn about Shrike occupying an empty hut that belongs to mercenaries. He also depicts that if you can teach Shrike a lesson, you can keep the hut for yourself.
Locating Shrike
Turn right from Gorn and look down towards the lower level, the first hut tucked against the wall. A npc is working on the hut’s exterior, that npc is Shrike. You need to defeat Shrike to evict him from the hut.
Defeating Shrike
Shrike is a powerful opponent, if you’re not powerful enough to take him head on then try to sneak some attacks from the back while he’s working on the hut’s exterior. Shrike has a 3 hit combo, make sure to dodge them and wait until he finishes his combo before attacking back.
After you’ve defeated him you can loot him and you can obtain his weapon, Sting Mace which is a one handed weapon that deals 25 blunt damage. Then after Shrike gets up and goes back to working on the hut’s exterior, speak with him and select any dialog option to force him to evict the hut.
Go back to Gorn and inform him about Shrike’s relocation which will complete the quest and you’ll gain bonus experience along with a hut to get settled in. The hut consists of a personal chest where you can store any valuable loot and a bed to sleep and recover or pass time during nights.
