In WWE 2K25, rivalries are essential for crafting compelling storylines in Universe Mode. Whether you want to create legendary feuds or intense championship battles, setting up rivalries allows you to control the drama. This guide will walk you through creating, managing, and maximizing rivalries for an immersive WWE experience.
Creating Rivalries in WWE 2K25
Just like in WWE 2K24, you can set up rivalries in WWE 2K25’s Universe Mode. The Rivalries option is found under the Calendar tab in the Tonight’s Show section.
When setting up a rivalry, you’ll first need to decide whether you want a classic one-on-one feud or a tag team rivalry. Next, select the Superstars or teams that will be involved. You’ll also need to set the intensity of the rivalry, with options ranging from Low, for a friendly competition, to Very High, for an intense grudge match.
Once you’ve made your choices, click Save to confirm the rivalry. Then, start the show and navigate to Rivalry Actions, where you can choose from various Promos and actions to make your rivalry matches more engaging.
Promo Types and Their Impact in WWE 2K25
Promos play a crucial role in rivalry actions, and WWE 2K25 has expanded their functionality. Superstars can perform five different types of promos: Self-Promos, Call-Outs, Promo Interrupts, Issue Open Challenge, and Accept Open Challenge. Each promo type serves a unique purpose in shaping rivalries and match outcomes.
Promo Types
Self-Promos
A Self-Promo allows a Superstar to publicly set a goal or challenge for themselves before a match. If they accomplish their goal, they earn rewards; failing it results in penalties. This promo also invites interference from their rival, who may try to sabotage their challenge or take advantage of the situation, making matches more unpredictable.
Call-Out
The Call-Out promo is a classic wrestling trope where a Superstar calls out their rival in the ring, demanding they appear. This can involve trash talk, accusations, or direct challenges, leading to a future match, an immediate match, a brawl, or no confrontation at all.
Promo Interrupt
In a Promo Interrupt, one Superstar is delivering a promo when another interrupts them. This interaction can take the rivalry in different directions, potentially setting up a future match, sparking an immediate fight, or simply escalating tensions. The outcome depends on the player’s choices.
Issue Open Challenge
With this promo, a Superstar issues a challenge to anyone willing to face them, without specifying an opponent. This creates an element of surprise, as players won’t know who will accept the challenge until the match entrance, adding an unpredictable twist to the show.
Accept Open Challenge
This action occurs when a Superstar accepts an Open Challenge issued by their rival. Unlike a standard open challenge, this is directly tied to an existing feud, leading to a match between the two rivals. The outcome of the match can have significant positive or negative consequences in their storyline.
