How to Break Taken Protective Curses in Destiny 2

This guide details how to shatter the Taken Protective Curses in Destiny 2, namely within the Curse of Endurance questline. This questline consists of three different curses: Endurance, Urgency, and Revenge. Each curse has a different way of shattering it, including particular locations, activities, and enemy encounters. Completing all three curses and obtaining the corresponding Taken fragments is necessary for moving forward towards acquiring the Barrow-Dyad exotic SMG.

How to Break Taken Protective Curses in Curse of Endurance

To finish the Curse of Endurance quest, it’s a pretty straightforward three-step process. First, head to the Moon and jump into the Altars of Sorrow public event. Landing at Sorrow’s Harbor will get you there quickly.

Once you’re in the right spot, a marker will pop up on your screen. Follow it to a small Taken blight. You’ll see a message: “Accept Curse of Endurance.” Interact with the blight, and you’ll be enveloped in Taken energy. A timer will appear on your HUD. While you’re powered up, your goal is to take down as many Hive enemies as possible before the timer runs out. Once you’ve eliminated enough Hive, that part of the quest will be done, and you can move on to the next step.

How to Break Taken Protective Curses in Curse of Urgency

Next up is the Urgency quest. Go to the Hallowed Grove Lost Sector in the EDZ (European Dead Zone). The Sludge landing zone is the fastest way to get there. Just run through the Lost Sector like you normally would. Eventually, you’ll find another one of those small Taken blight spots. Interact with it to get another Taken power boost. Use this power to defeat the boss at the end of the Lost Sector, and that part of the quest will be done.

How to Break Taken Protective Curses in Curse of Revenge

The third and final Curse quest takes you to the Nightmare Hunt: Pride on the Moon. Ignore the map marker for this one; it’s a dead end. Instead, launch the activity directly from the directory. You’ll find the Taken power-up in the final room of the encounter. Take out the boss and the other enemies there, and you’ll finish this last step of the quest.

For the last step, it’s back to the Nether to hunt down more Taken fragments. By now, all three of your Curse quests should be at this final stage, so you’ll be searching for three fragments in total. Where these fragments appear depends on where you spawn in the Nether. Once you find them all, you’ll complete all three Curse quests and be that much closer to getting the Barrow-Dyad exotic SMG!
